TO: ALL PRESIDENTS/NEGOTIATORS
Dear Brothers:
The bankruptcy judge has placed the 1113 negotiations process under the direction of another bankruptcy judge who has no involvement with the case itself. He will coordinate this process.
That judge, who volunteered to help the parties attempt to settle the 1113 litigation, has provided a time schedule to the unions for a mediation type process. He has a full caseload and, as a result, he has to balance his other duties between the three unions. He is starting with the pilots, moving to the flight attendants and then on to us. Our lawyers will learn the protocols and process at the end of this week, as the judge is scheduled out of town at the beginning of the week.
We need to get ready and outline our approach. I am asking each of the negotiators for ALL of the contract groups to come to DFW next week. I am setting a one-day legal strategy session for next Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
I am scheduling that Wednesday to assist with travel plans after a holiday weekend. We will start at 11:30 and end at 17:00 at the Hurst Convention Center. (We will have a working lunch). We have asked Mark Richard to facilitate the meeting.
Finally, the reason I am asking all title groups to attend is to assure that we strategize about our top negotiation goals -- to police and enforce the “me too” clauses for those units that accepted the last offer , and obviously to try to obtain an equitable contract for our Stores and M&R members that is worthy of ratification.
Fraternally,
Robert Gless
