Afa Wins!

Looking ahead. How many are scheduled back from a VF on June 1? Hopefully the company will save themselves a headache and offer extensions and VF9. Congrats again AFA! Thank you Pitbull! For all your efforts! :)

PITBull:
Thanks for keeping us informed and all your efforts.
Those people who bid MAA out of the 552 INVOLS should be allowed to have their MAA bid stand. I would think the company would welcome this. I am sure AFA is working hard to come up with some options. Hope we have some information soon.

Light Years,
Comair F/A's are probably making more $ than U reserves. They start out at $19.48 per hr, $1.65 per diem, a raise every November on the contract anniversary, and second yr pay is $23.60 per hr, they also have a 78 hr min guarantee. Their uniforms are also awesome!!!! Not so bad for a regional. I've flown them several times, they are very professional, you would never believe they are regional!! :p

Comair is higher than MAA. But not U. However, if you average in the higher guarantee for Comair, and U reserves, you would be correct.

This was a great victory for AFA!!!! However, this was just another blow to the stomach for many of those 200 invols.

They gave up crash pads, gave up apartments, sold their airport cars, spent hundreds of dollars to move their stuff back home to Pit and now they are possibly going back? Who is going to pay for this? The company? The AFA? Where are these people going to get this money?

Yes, the AFA had to do what they had to do and I honor that, but what is this same AFA that fought so hard to get people a chance for their job back, going to do for those that have sacrificed the most?

What is in it for those poor folks? My heart goes out to them.
Many on here are correct, they should have the option to stay out or stay with MAA.

I suggest that anyone that wants to stay out or at MAA...right Seigel, Glass, Sherry Groff, and Perry Hayes. YOU MUST BE HEARD. Tell them what you went/are going through. They need to fight for you also.

Anyone active f/a's effected by the Jan 15th invol read Section 19-2 of your contract. KNOW YOUR RECALL RIGHTS!!!!!!!

It would be nice if the company would agree to a contract similar to Comair's. I have a friend who works there and it the closest to a major that you can get. The work rules are not bad and the benefits are good.$31.75 at 5th yr pay, at least a dollar increase every year. MAA would definately have closer to 550 out of 550 instead of 78 out of 550 interested!

Keep in mind BMIBaby, that many of those folks did pass to receive their severence package. 2 months severence pay(health bens. through it) and then after they are paid the clock starts ticking for the benefits. Those going to MAA get no severence package and their clock for benefits starts counting down immediately. That is why you have such a low number. This next batch that got letters (Sept 1, 20003 fuloughees) I think they will be banging down the door.

Twicebaked:

I think you only forgo severance if your MDA training date overlaps with your severance being paid out. Those that go in May for instance are still due their severance from mainline.

Thanks AFA!!
Do you think we will hear a public apology from Ms. Sherry Groff?
Also can someone tell me if the Voluntary Furlough form is on the Hub.

usacrew3:

I have not seen the VF program details and TheHub doesn't have any information either. I bet is chaos in CCY trying to figure out how to proceed at this late date.
I would ask the more SR folks to just hold their hot little hands until we take care of the 200-550 people that are going through this MESS. They choose first what is best for them and then if any positions are left for VF, they can have at it. It's only fair at this point.

I really don't think there are many Seniors saying "Yes, Now I can get Out" They have had every opportunity to "Get Out". They are staying. Go back and read some of the Posts by PSA1979 in the Forum "AFA Loses Again". She's not the only Senior Mamma out their who feels that way. It will be the "Career Reserves" who may just hit the road...and maybe this is exactly what Management wants.

Sorry I wasn't able to respond to this sooner But I was out of town Interviewing with ANOTHER Airline...I don't think I'll EVER GET CALLED BACK

ANYWAY, The way someone explained it to me as far as these Senior's not leaving... WHY SHOULD THEY... Most are on international....Fly 3-4 trips a month and still make around $50,000 a year..... The Junior F/A's are SCREWED !!! :(

Colby..I applaud you for still pursuing the F/A career. And Yes it is a CAREER and not just a "Job". One that requires a very unique life-style. Best Of Luck. I myself would never start all over in this business again. It was hard enough being a Career Rsv. the old way. This new TIme Bal. thing Sucks. Everyone's personal life is unique too, so it will be interesting to see how many go. Allot of Sr. BH's are now working those (6) legs aday. One guy I flew with worked 12 Yr. ITD working only the electronic/video euip. Now he's Domestic without the slightes clue. Couldn't handle FC by himself on a TransCon. Wouldn't let the D leave HIS galley, being that he took A. But I don't forsee a mass exodous of Sr/Sr folks unless they have a good incentive. :(

Flying on a 767 not too long ago I almost got up to help them figure out the Video equipment... I was sitting in the back and noticed it took them a LONG TIME to
get the Video Going... It was kind of funny to me...

I took the VF (6months) twice. Each time hoping to come back to a much improved work environment. NOT!! But I do love this job and MOST (HeHe) of the people. Frankly, Most of the Senior folks are great. I am usually most Jr. everytime I fly. If I had a block right now, life would be great in spite of the cuts. Hope with this AFA WIN....things will start to turn around.

PS. Haven't seen any Special Bulletins yet.
