You were the one posting as if there was a significance difference between APA and APFA dues. If you are so short of funds that $5/month makes that big a difference, maybe you should take a 2nd job.

Absolutely they do. APFA let's the membership know every year when the newest LM-2 is available on the Internet for your viewing. They also will let you see the budget if you ask. You pay them dues, you are entitled to the information. Only problem is you have to ask or look for it on the website. I personally think they do a good job of notifying the membership, problem is most couldn't care less and the rest don't make the effort to listen to what their union tells them.Does the APFA have to account for the money in any way? Just curious if there is a budget that's available to the members? I don't mind paying dues but it would be interesting to see where it is actually spent. If my math is correct we're talking about roughly $8,000,000 per year. Does any union have to account for their money?
Please excuse the typo. I'll try to be more careful in the future. You never said they were more? It's AFA-CWA, not APA and I never said they were more.
See, more than APFA's. I guess that accounts for the skim off the top for the CWA.
The Verizon call center worker has nothing to do with your contract and how your dues are spent, the AFA still has its own officers and leadership.
And you dont have to look for it, you can attend union meetings and get all the financial data you want or you can request it from the APFA.
Nice job Columbo. That was AFTER I found out what their dues were. So, yes at that point I did know they were more. So did everyone else that read the response. Please excuse the typo. I'll try to be more careful in the future. You never said they were more?
I know that the information is easily had. All you have to do is ask. I'm pretty sure if you wanted to spend a couple minutes on APFA.org, you could find most if not all on there as well. Either way, it is available and not secret. Somehow someone with around 14 years has never figured this out. I mean, even a small HOA has to have this info available to is members. Why wouldn't a multi million dollar organization have to make this information available? I am truly amazed at how people can complain about stuff, yet be so confused about the overall structure of what they are complaining about. If it was a serious complaint, they would do their homework and study any and all information about the organization. Especially if they belong to it. Like I said before APFA announces to its members when the forms are complete and available for viewing. Apathy is the only excuse for lack of knowledge. The Verizon call center worker has nothing to do with your contract and how your dues are spent, the AFA still has its own officers and leadership.

Sounds like the TWU structure. No thanks! The Verizon call center worker has nothing to do with your contract and how your dues are spent, the AFA still has its own officers and leadership.

That would be nice, you would think you would at least get a recorded reply to your phone call or e mail. I have only called the APFA 2 times in 15 years, and e mailed them once. If I don't get a response the first time I just let it go, maybe I should be more aggressive? I will say I have never been in a serious/emergency situation. Maybe they respond to those kind of calls? I know that AFA at United has a staffed office in IAD (I have been down there a few times) The last couple of times Ive been there , there were 2 AFA employees there, I have actually asked them general questions about different issues concerning FA issues, I knew they were not representing AA or APFA but they do deal with the FAA and FARs are all the same no matter which airline. It was nice to be able to talk to someone that easily even if it wasn't my own airline or union. They were always very helpful no matter what the questions were.Silverbird,
Honestly, once we have one base instead of 2, in each city that has both domestic and international. I would hope that a little money will be made available to provide a few more services that aren't feasible at this time without raising dues. Also, maybe combining representation of the smaller bases like RDU and SLT. There is always the possibility for improvement and cost controls.
Precisely. Following the post where the LCC f/a posted the monthly amount, you said "they are MORE." Then, you followed my post which was after yours with "I never said they were more." Can't have it both ways, dearie. Or,do you not understand the rules of conversation where you are taken for what you say, not what you claim to have said (or, in your case, not said)?Nice job Columbo. That was AFTER I found out what their dues were. So, yes at that point I did know they were more. So did everyone else that read the response.
