Which FA union will be voted in?

Do US fas get holiday pay?
Why, yes we do now. Thanksgiving, December 25th, and January 1

From our brand new contract:

"Hourly rate of pay times the credited flight time for the trip, divided by the number of hours away from home, times the number of hours away from home falling within the Compensated Holiday(s), divided by two."

What? This sounds like an APFA contract! Does the wind need to be blowing from the south too? LOL

It's probably the AFA way. That is the the same if not very similar very crazy formula that ours was geared from when we did have it. APFA copied AFA UA if I'm not mistaken. It was way too complicated for what it was.

No, silly! If it were an APFA contract clause, the wind direction would have nothing to do with the calculation. However, the holiday would have to fall on the 3rd Tuesday of the month and follow a cloudy Thursday on which Horton donated his bonus to WINGS.

For some reason AFA seems to work good for United, maybe just luck? I don't know. I guess we will get to vote? Do US fas get holiday pay? We don't get any holiday pay at AA. We also have foreign nationals all over South America who don't get furloughed, even while the TWA fas were furloughed. Also its kinda hard to get in touch with the APFA (at least my experience). If APFA is better then than the AFA then don't expect too much.

Yes the foreign Nationals were furloughed.

Do you mean AAs foreign nationals? Just check the bid sheets for next month, they are still here. There are 4 bases in South America, not sure the total but its easy to pull up on the web roster. I was told a few years ago that it was part of the Eastern Airlines assets that AA aquired and AA is required by the countries where they are located to maintain the bases. I dont know if that is true but we still have them.

I'm not judgin'. I'm just sayin'. It seems to me that the major efforts by most flight attendant union officials of any stripe are directed toward assuring that they remain in office, and don't have to work on airplanes that have passengers on them. Particularly, since they can vote themselves raises when they need more money. "Pick up extra flying? How common."

yes look at how much $ the APFA will be collecting after the merger, if they remain our union! They might make a bigger "profit" then AA!! Where do I sign? LOL!

So, you are insinuating that AFA would lower their dues and not collect even more than they do today? By the way, does anyone even know what AFA gets from the USairways f/a's? Also, at least with the APFA, all the money stays in house and is managed by AA f/a's. With AFA, that isn't the same. With AFA, CWA also has their hands all over their funds and decision making as well. Seems to me that there might be a few more directions that money could be moved to that might not benefit the members as much. Either way, AFA would gain even more money from you and I than they do today than APFA would.

See, more than APFA's. I guess that accounts for the skim off the top for the CWA.

Oh, wow. APFA dues are "only" $41/month. That's a whole $5/month less than APA. $60 a year! At last, Mother can have that operation.

Yes, some of the foreign nationals were furloughed, and yes there are bases in BOG,SCL,LIM and EZE and they are flying. When AA bought EAL routes came with, but there is much more to the story, in the early 90's we voted to keep them bayed at MIA, AA wanted them flying to Europe, Aisa and thruout the US, but APFA voted to keep them and they couldn't fly past MIA into the US except our strike they did get to LAX, it was the lessor of 2 evils, As we (APFA) gre they could as well, % wise, as we furlouged they weere furloughed as well. We arent to be paired with them, but sometime things happen, I've flown with them many times. They have their own country unions, and are paid salery. Most of their flying is the original EAL flying,

If you contact the LAX base chair he can give you all the specifics.
