From the west flight attendant discussion forum. This is how it was sent to me. I can't access the board anymore since I'm on furlough. My little cubicle definitely has less drama. I feel like Dilbert and am starting to look like him from sitting on my butt 8 hrs a day, but if this whole stink is starting up again, maybe I'm lucky. It isn't very professional that's for sure. On the bright side, it sounds like you guys might be getting a contract soon. I guess he doesn't get that if it weren't for Lisa he wouldn't be there. He was recalled himself, that boy should a turned over his key a long time ago.
Dear Fellow Flight Attendants,
First of all I would like to say that I would have posted my thoughts on here sooner, but Lisa and I were busy negotiating a contract. Negotiations that resulted in two more sections being Tentatively Agreed this week. We are getting extremely close to bringing something out to our members to vote on. And what we need now more than ever is to unite! The East FA's are claiming to vote down any deal due to the ignorant fact that they would have to separate from their pilots. They are willing to ignore a vastly improved reserve lifestyle, a better scheduling system, pay increases, and many many more improvements just to stay with their childish moronic pilots! We need the support of our members, not a ridiculous recall.
Now, let me give my side of the story. I was approached several times leading up to the elections for International officers. Approached by Presidents of other airline's unions. I was asked point blank if I had any knowledge of Bill McGlashen taking any part in the recall of myself and the other officers at council 66. When I answered them and told them that yes he did indeed participate in the recall. I have seen and hold the proof of this. They informed me that they would do everything in their power to ensure that Bill did not get elected as the International President. One President who had quite a few votes (a couple thousand) told me they would wait until the end when it looked as if Bill was going to win, and then cast the deciding vote to put Veda over the top.
It didn't matter how our council voted at all. The bottom line was they were going to see how many votes needed to go to Veda to change the outcome. And that's exactly what they did. One President cast a majority of their votes for Bill, but was ready to adjust that number if needed. The bottom line is, if you want to blame anyone for Bill losing the election, blame BILL! He should have stayed out of the recall B.S. if he wanted to be an International Officer. Or if you are too blindly infatuated with Bill, as I was at one time, then blame ME! If I would have simply ignored the calls from the other Presidents they would have cast their votes for Bill. So if you wanna crucify someone for Bill losing I will take up that cross.
I still believe Bill McGlashen is a great man. And this council owes him a great deal of gratitude for his years of hard work. But he knows what he did that cost him the election and letting Lisa take the blame is pathetic.
My job is to support Lisa in getting us a contract. I would hope all of you would see the bigger picture. We need a contract, and starting another recall will not help. In fact it is detrimental, and should be treated as blatant interference. Whenever you see someone with a clipboard supporting a recall, what they are really doing is stalling negotiations, and your ability to get a contract. These recall junkies only care about one thing, and that is getting back into office.
I am making this promise to you today:"The day we ratify the new contract will mark the last day I ever darken the doorstep of the union office." I am so sick of the politics and the good ole boy mentality that comes out of our union. I don't go to the office because I love working in the union, I go because I have a common goal with Lisa. GET US A CONTRACT!
When that day comes all the former officers and their leeches can have the office back! I will gladly turn over my key.
Sincerely,
Jeff Albers
