AA Still Short Flight Attendants....

I think at one time there was a tax credit for the family leave. Not sure if it still exisits today. I haven;t heard of them pushing it like they were 4 or 5 years ago.

With AA pushing the family leave thing so hard.....there must be some incentive to the company to have abs. coded this way...Anybody know if there are kick backs/credits to a company w/ employees..or a certian % of employees taking FAMLV for time off??
The company gets some reimbursement from the government. Maybe someone else can fill in the details.

Yeah - and Microsoft really does have a sweepstakes going that I enter by forwarding chain emails. B)

Seriously - AA gets no money from the government when its employees take Family Leave.

Well they were getting a tax credit or something for it. AA would never push so hard for us all to be on FMLA and not just out sick. Telling a supervisor you were not interested in FMLA was like ripping their heart out, I mean if they actually had one.

After sitting here reading these 7 pages of "HIGHLY LEGITIMATE" reasons of why the VAST MAJORITY of FA's are getting sick, Ive got to ask this question.

What is the ALL TIME record of sick calls for the holidays #/year ?

Think the record be broken this year ?

With all this mismanegement, imagine the "fortuneate union person", who is CLOSELY related to a Doctor(internist/general practitioner), at a MAJOR medical institution,(who in turn, has many,many close friends, who are "specialists" :rolleyes: ;)

One of the really sickening (no pun intended) reasons the FMLA was pushed so hard by supervisors is that the sick call then didn't go against THEIR record. As all F/A's know a flt. service supervisor's pay raise is in part determined by the number of sick calls their group of F/A's had. This disgusting practice caused a lot of harrassment and resulted in many F/A's flying while they were sick.
For those who work in an office away from the general public, try to comprehend flying with hundreds of people a day...especially during flu season.

(Addressed to) Operations;

I'm sure your familiar with this slogan;

"Thats the COST of doing business" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When (dr.) David Mc Kenas(SP?) was the head of AA medical, he was in charge of having a informative pamphlet sent around, that specifically talked about the flu, and ANYTHING else contagious. The article went on to say that the employee had AN OBLIGATION "NOT" to pass it on to other employees, and to stay away from work, and get better !

And I still have the pamphlet.

"A Strange thing happened on the way to the Forum, I mean Centerport", one day, Dr. Mc Kenas, RESIGNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder why that was ????????????

Think AA grew UNAPPRECIATIVE of the good doctors wise medical advise ?????

Ahh it's a moot point anyway.
"Que sera sera, what ever will be, will be"
Afterall,
"Thats the COST of doing business" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps,
operations, ANY chance you'll answer (at least) the first part of my question ??

1. what is the all time record number of sick calls over the Xmas holiday ??
2. what year ??
3. think the record "MAY" be shattered, THIS year ???????

Hummm the all time number of flight attendants sick over the Hoildays. I can not be sure but i do remember over 1900. 10 percent of the work force. and Yes I do it will be shattered. Something you will be proud of no doubt. I can not give a specific year or a specific number as i try to forget as much as I can when I walk out the door of the job. I try as hard as I can to leave work where it belongs at work....but i come here and see such awful people posting day in and day out. It is sad. I wonder if we brought back all the TWA flight attendants back and layed off that number of AA flight attendants. It just might give this company some better employees. I wonder

Physician heal thy self. It must be great sitting in your ivory tower casting judgment on everyone else.

I do believe they would call in sick less and have better attitudes being grateful for their jobs. The AA F/As used to pick on the TWA F/As attempts to regain some seniority by repeatedly saying, "you are lucky to have a job." Now they are whining more than the TWA F/As ever did. Maybe they should be grateful they have a job or as AA F/As repeatedly told TWA F/As, "if you don't like it, then quit." Guess they could use some of their own medicine.

Greatful is not in the AA flight Attendant vocabulary. Greed...is
I don't agree with the greed statement. I think People are people, but the culture that one is surrounded by can't help but infuence one's attitude. Like I've said before struggle and sacrifice builds character...and we (twa) had a lot of years to build that character.

I do agree with the greed statement but I would not limit it to AA fa’s. I think it is people in general. They are short sighted and they want what ever they can get with out any regard to those around them. You can bet that when the negotiations come around again in a few years that who ever is first will want a lot more money regardless of whether AA is making money, how much AA is making or anything else. It will not matter that there will not be enough left to raise the salaries of the other work groups. They want theirs.

When times were good, everyone wanted huge raises and easy work rules. Everyone wanted to get fat. No one thought that the good times would end. Management is just as culpable for this as the rank and file. We should have been staying trim, kept labor costs down. Invested in new aircraft. Pared down our flight schedule. Increased productivity. Instead, we got fat. No we do it the hard way and people are going to get screwed.

As far as I am concerned, the fa’s, pilots, rampers, tech’s … who are on the sick list in “protestâ€￾ are like children throwing a temper tantrum. They need to be spanked and sent to their room.
