AA and Labor Negotiations-2020

Anybody thinking about what who they will be represented by when a contract is voted in?

I.E. All LAX will be a TWU station paying TWU dues, Do they also lose LUS Medical and IAM pension (thank god)?

http://local501.twuatd.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/TWU_IAM_Joint_Agreement.pdf
the way it was explained to me was if your twu in an iam station your dues and benefits are iam but your dues go to the iam. but the twu represents you. go figure lets **** it up a little more.

If they want a note, they better be ready to pay for the Dr. visit.

^This^
A couple of years ago i was out 3 weeks with pneumonia they didnt ask for a note. For the AAers its not what they are going to be used to but one they could live with.

I doubt anyone wants to lose enhancements NYer. It's just plain wrong to have 1 work group with different deals and have them work together. If people thought the TWU were fighting for them and this issue could be addressed then maybe you would see a strong no vote. As it is I think it will pass because of the enhancements and the concern it could take years to get a deal. Maybe the 2 unions should have merged along with the airlines. And to have it take 4 years for this?
my understanding is that they were forced into it by a few behind the scenes wheel in motion.
1) the nmb suggesting it
2) the amfa drive
3) more importantly the court case and hearing in February. you will probably not hear that the court case will be pushed back till after a vote. if its voted in it will be quietly put to rest. the maintenance difference between a signing bonus and true retro actually paid for it. if its turned down it could get ugly for the association. look for the association to push hard for a yes vote.

the company claims they lost 100 million on the "work action"

lets see now if the raise is say $7.00 an hour and their are are 14,500 maintenance and related. the contract was amendable in Sept of 2018 approximately 18 months. if there are 2080 hours in a work year that would be 3120 hours of retro.

the average retro check no overtime or holidays.

$7.00 x 3120 = would be $21,840.00 if the "signing bonus" is $6,000.00, that leaves a loss of $15,840

$21,840 - $6,000 is $15,840

if the retro shortage is $15,840 x 14,500 maintenance and related

$15,840 x 14,500 =$229,460,000.00

hmm i wonder if the court case next month will be dismissed....

i didnt do the math but it looks like fleet service at $3,000 is roughly correct since i believe they are getting 4% which is a little more then a dollar an hour.

You do realize LUS folks are whistling past the graveyard with the health insurance in this agreement, curious why you would vote know? You do realize the 4% match is another 3k and holidays is like another 2k and the raise with dif is another 4k
Its not an ILC when compared to DL. UA. Im a LUS and in my station im not alone in the voting No department on this deal
The retirement part is actually good. Holidays. Good. Vacation improved. But even though money is good. An ILC wld have us above DL n UA

Stay tuned for language on scope. Devil is in details

Maybe. But question 6 under "THE ALLIANCE":

Q. Will I still be a member of my union, or will I become a member of the Association?

A: The Association will have no members, but it will hold certification for the combined work group. Union membership will be based on a person's location as outlined in appendix B to each Association agreement.

Appendix B clearly states which locations fall under which union.

Yes I know the Q&A also states that you will have opportunity to vote to be represented by the Association. We know that didn't happen but no matter how you read it having that vote for representation can only be approved and run by the NMB. The NMB decision was final and binding. Association certification approved and no vote needed. End of story. Members screwed but it wasn't the Unions decision to make.

Ever consider what your medical bills might be with the AA plan? I also think money wonr be added the package will just be moved around?

Buck all of us who live here are dysfunctional

You are a winner, my first intent was to get a defensive response.
Secondly the TWU would probably do ok if they retreated into NYC.

I wonder what happened to Geographic Compensation?

Ok I’m confused why is deicing so important at DFW, where it might happen on average 7 times a winter, please to say that’s a loss is at best a joke. and I doubt it will cost any jobs just those guys all on call because of a possible need making double time playing cards
While losing deicing may seem like a huge thing, DFW just had 175 full time upgrades, has hired off the street and continues to expand with everyone protected in a station that will more than likely not have a layoff for the 5 year duration. CB is right, the IAM is losing jobs while the TWU is losing deicing (not headcount) in DFW. The IAM insurance will probably be completely gone before the 5 years are up. If the IAM lost their insurance and also those other jobs how do you think they would react? My mind is not made up until I see the full text proposal but to say that TWU fleet lost out is absurd based on the fact sheet that is out...not to mention where the company was on Title II and what was agreed to in to TA. Stores made a killing once again and how many new hires have there been at Tulsa since Olund got there that are also now protected? Read the final draft...and realize what being put on ice would bring us...more years of nothing.

I’m probably misunderstanding. Are you saying that if the pay was just .01 more you would vote yes? IF so, .....for $20.80 you are a no?

Its nice to be able to do the math.

Its hard to argue, our leaders instituted prison reform and emptied the jails. Not a day goes by where an exprisoner isn't rearrested

I guess i better not transfer to JFK after we merge

Just a suggestion, perhaps take one step and not only waiting until after the merger but to see what happens with the mechanics.
