2015 Fleet Service thread

Not saying anyone in particular is lying. Just that I'm not someone who believes everything people tell me especially when they may just want to placate me.
So you're saying they're willfully deceiving lots of people with thehope of placating one? C'mon man...

WeAAsles, I asked you a hypothetical question on the AMT forum. I'll ask it here for you and others. What if your work group bested even United in salary. Comparable vacation and sick time, holidays and holiday pay. Basically matched them on every article. Even the IAMNPF and 401k match.....BUT the one concession they wanted from your group is to outsource deicing...Would you be YEA or NAY?
I am not trolling here, just curious as to where your group would draw the line.
An honest question deserves an honest answer. I'd say yes. Besides the fact anyway that I'm afraid of the bucket ride and I live in MIA where we don't deice. Again that would be my vote.

Hopefully we'd outsource it back to you guys where it belongs.

And if this thread is my house, you're always welcome here.

Thank you.. And thanks for the honest answer. The reason I brought that example up is if I, as a mechanic, was asked if I would give the aircraft moves up to say fleet, in exchange for the same things I mentioned, I would not want to be accused of the IGM      ( I Got Mine) bug and selling out younger workers.

BTW, i spent many years in the bucket swallowing many a spray....I must admit those new deicing trucks make it a much better gig.
Having said that, it is no longer appealing to me at my age. Just like my fuel tank entry days are long over.

The multiplier doesnt mean squat. the company is putting more money in my pension today but my multiplier is $48, down from $81. They have a continual slashing trend to keep things in the green. Twice in 13 years they pushed the fund in the green by changing benefit amounts. Now the new pension laws will allow then to whack retirees. In theory, $80 is decent, but it is just monopoly money and at clear and future risks.
Come clean weasle and tell the truth.
regards,
Come clean about what? It's all true what you said. But if we're going to get a 28% raise and we lost only 2.5% of our 401k match for the IAMPF, I don't think I'd have any problems making up for that loss of the match when I'm already putting in 20% and am thinking about uping it to 25%?

The only use I'm thinking for the IAMPF anyway is for entertainment purposes. Beer, chicks, vacations, golf and that assorted sort of thing.

I went up in it only once in my career and the pee that ran down my leg froze my pants. Heard about the new trucks and all the other perks, still not interested.

Anyway on the IGM bug, we all have a little bit of that. 20 years of my life so far spent at AA. Aren't I by now entitled or earned thinking just a little bit about myself?

The kids coming in now who are staring at me because they want to ask me when I'm retiring have to have a little to fight for in their future. Can't make the ride completely easy on em.

Yes we are entitled. The difference is we were promised a retirement when we hired on... That promise was broken. New employees hire on now knowing what they will NOT get in terms of a defined pension.

Any contract proposal that has the IAMPF in any way is a no vote for me, getting a foot in the door is a victory
for the ASS. When the next economic downturn hits and AA comes begging for concessions, that nice pay raise
will be gone and the IAMPF will be forced on us to save jobs. Keeping the IAMPF cancer out of our language is a
must, I did not want the ASS & I did not get my promised vote. Accepting the IAMPF in any way is a concession.

A lot of variables here Weez take out de-icing and put in bag room or cargo or catering now what? I wouldn't force the company to go out and buy deicing trucks but where we have them an AA employee should do it. Here at LGA at US  nobody in fleet wanted to do it so they farmed it out.

I have been doing a little bit of a rethink on the being entitled thought lately. I guess that comes with age and wanting to make sure my own future is as secure as I can make it.

The new kids are good and at least IMO try hard when they don't have their phones in the palm of their hands. But again they're kids and have to fight for what they feel they're worth in the future. I'll be out of here before any of them get anywhere near my age. So yea I guess I should be somewhat entitled.
