2015 Fleet Service thread

Every time one of my crew members squeezes 200 bags where only 100 should fit, I tell them just how skilled they are. Unskilled my a**!
Every time I refuse "Outsourced" mail because the driver got lost bringing the mail, my crew tells me what a skilled leader I am...
The reds are out today, apparently no sense of humor.

Irrelevant if the DOL continues to classify a group as unskilled labor. It's that designation they need to advocate to change. Otherwise as a whole employers will look to BLS reports to gauge what a person should be compensated in a particular job. And according to BLS the average Aircraft Mechanic makes $24.00 per hour of $48,000 per year. The market sets the rates especially outside of a collective bargaining situation.
But I think you should bring this conversation over to the Maintenance thread where they will argue and cajole the facts to death without ever lifting a finger to attempt to change them.
Again this is a Fleet thread and the other group makes it a point on here to state that they don't want to talk to any of us or read our opinions if we're not a part of their Country Club.
you looked at the 25 percent but 90 percent make 42 and change 25 percent isn't average plus you have general aviation and airline mechanics plus manufacturers. So spin it any way you want . But you been fact checked

Ok Ok you're skilled  we'll make sure that's in  your eulogy (hopefully not for a long time) you happy now?Now I have been  at this job for a number of years when I see a Avionics specialist I usually see him watching TV or on his laptop or I see him up in the food court arguing the price of a grilled cheese sandwich with the cashier. When I see them actually working on a plane they usually have a component in one hand and scratching their head with the other or crawling on the cockpit floor looking for a part they dropped.Tell the truth how many times do you go home and find hardware in your pockets

Can't take over Envoy or AE work. They also have a Union and a contract. But the argument can now easily be made if IAM UAL passes that since we don't do express work why are you even thinking about talking about Freight now.

Could be a wash job for job when you're comparing the two companies and headcount?
CWA/IBT Mainline Passenger Service Employee Association is allowing CWA represented Piedmont and Envoy to take over 30 cities most of these cities were protect under the old LUS contract CWA/IBT Mainline Passenger Service Employee Association gave the work to CWA represented Piedmont and Envoy

That's because you had one group coming in with a CBA and one group that never had one that brought nothing to that marriage.

Same thing that happened with the UAL merger. UAL ramp came in with a contract with Station Staffing language and the Continental people came in with no protection language for Station Staffing.

We were talking about this over the weekend on a UAL thread if you want to read it.

But anyway different story for us. We have two groups that both came in to the marriage with a nice Dowry as far as Station Staffing (Jobs) are concerned.

Our outcome should be a lot different then the agents?

I've been saying this kind of arrangement with the unions representing both work groups is a conflict of interest. but no one  would listen.  What cities I thought there was a no furlough  clause ?

Sounds to me the union could have taken more time to get it right

There was something weird about that negotiations. They were taking their time and only a week before they got a TA had put that out in an update.

Bam. Out of nowhere they suddenly had a deal?????

Another situation where maybe a nuclear option was threatened because man were they desperate to sell that deal?

Strange negotiations indeed.I don't know about what you suggest I cant see the company "threatening" trying to put a merger together If what John John is saying (and he might be biased )is  true the union (their Association) blew it
