2015 Fleet Service thread

It's also illogical to stand up and say to a company executive "give us the money and we'll negotiate the rest later" but somebody asks for that or the 4% at every town hall.
What drives me nuts is those numnuts can't even figure out the 4% doesn't exist anymore. 3% above Delta is around 23% total.

Give them the 4 if they want it so bad and I'll wait and take the 23 (or more) myself.

What about the AMTs who thought theses raises were only for them? WOW

here is something to think of...   I cannot vouch for other stations... but in cities whereas LUS had been doing long haul PHX flights utilizing Airbus LUS did the catering    Switch planes to the LAA 737-800  and hence LSG does the catering    That is currently occurring in my station  only 1 flight     One guy told me that the reason the company swtiched from the A-320 to the 738 is bec supposingly the 738 gets better fuel savings on miles 800 and above   I personally do not know how true that is.   But in my opinion I see it as a catering loss for the afternoon shift    Our morning PHX is still operated by an A320 LUS      I dont know if the company is planning on turning the PHX into 738 flights and redeploying the airbus  but it is something to think about bec it is a way for the company to quietly get rid of catering on the LUS side

I also don't understand how someone could want the same pay and benefits as another airline but are not willing to accept that other airline's workrules
I can understand same workrules...but are you OK with outsourcing the same things Delta does to get Delta's money. I think Parker and crew consider workrules and outsourcing one in the same, do you feel the same?

AA outsourced what they wanted to outsource when they put a bankruptcy gun to the heads of the TWU employees.

Why the hell should the membership agree to change work rules to favor the company when they are making record profits?

Employees sacrificed compensation in various forms to help AA through hard times and have done so for over a decade. Now that times are good for AA (record profits) they need to help the employees through THEIR hard time.

I say AA got what they wanted in bankruptcy, keep the work rules AND go for the money.

Do you think you should change work rules for money when you gave up compensation for their benefit and in turn they are stonewalling you in contracts?

No I'm not OK but you have to admit the company would have a fair argument. Somethings got to give, look at the amount of employees we have compared to other airlines

I agree 100% but everyone including AA people on this forum are always saying what a great place DL is to work so why not try their work rules. AA AMTs want LUVs and FedEx wages how about  agreeing to their work rules they would probably have to lay off 4000 AMTS. I don't feel entitled I understand the company is trying to run a competitive business

Sorry WP. A company that just made over 10 billion dollars profit the last two years and is projected to continue to haul in the cash, I don't see any need for outsourcing. We did not go to Parker and ask for the raise in exchange for job loss (outsource), he came to us and offered the money with no strings attached. As a matter of fact his example was "We are going to give you this raise on one hand and will NOT be asking for anything on this other hand. Again, raise in this hand, taking nothing away in this hand. He did state that some things would be different, but taking cargo and catering is TAKING WITH THE OTHER HAND. So no, in my opinion, based on what Parker stated, and what the present and future profits were and are forecast to be, the company has no argument.

No other argument then they have to be competitive. I know what I sound like but actually I'm not willing to give up anything either and i think we should get all we can but I also realize it will never go back to the good old days things change heck when I went to college you could smoke in class and there were book jackets advertising happy hour at the bar on campus 2 for 1s no less and ladies drank for free plastic cup and all

now you're dating yourself...lol the high school I went to had a smoking area

40% of those DL Ramp and CSA are Ready Reserve, no benefits, no insurance, no vacation, top out at $13 and change, hours capped, and no pension no 401k match.  And those jobs are creeping into maintenance too.

The New AA staffs more below wing stations than DL, and DL even has vendors working along side of mainline ramp, DL just outsourced mail in ATL, LGA has mainline ramp at the main terminal, and vendors over at the MAT.

And AA has $18.5 billion in debt, and are still bound by certain terms from the POR.

Fleet Service Negotiations Update

4/1/16

Sisters and Brothers,

The Joint Association Fleet Committee met in Dallas this week and exchanged the following proposals with the company:

Hours of Work
Recognition of Rights and Compliance
Grievance Procedures
Meal Periods
Leaves of Absence
Shift Differential/Shift Definitions
Training, Travel and Meal Per Diems

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement on the Training, Travel and Meal Per Diem article.

Despite this progress, unfortunately, the company did hold a meeting this week without inviting Association representatives, and actually left a bargaining session in order to attend.

Unbeknownst to the negotiating team, Robert Isom, American Airlines’ Chief Operating Officer, conducted a town hall meeting on Tuesday in Dallas without notifying any of our team members. American’s Director of Employee Relations, Jim Weel—who is part of the company’s M&R negotiating team and attended the session that morning—left the bargaining meeting in order to attend the town hall. This lack of transparency and commitment to the bargaining process will not be tolerated.

It is clear that American Airlines is not providing the membership with entirely accurate information, and that they are employing common management tactics to disrupt negotiations. While Mr. Isom assures us that the company is not holding up the process, they continue to offer our negotiation teams proposals which do not recognize the role our members have in sustaining American’s profits – and those are proposals that we will not accept.

Our future Fleet negotiations dates and locations are as follows:
Week of April 11 in DFW
Week of April 25 in DCA
Week of May 9 in DCA
Week of May 16 in DFW
Week of May 23 in DFW
Week of June 13 in DFW
Week of June 20 in DCA
Week of June 27 in DFW

We will continue to provide updates to membership following each negotiation session, and appreciate your continued patience and support.

Fraternally,
