2015 Fleet Service thread

You see you are looking at the start of negotiations as January. Most of us believe they should have started  months earlier so the mind set is what is taking so long?
And I agree with that also. Always have. Made no secret that they should have talked. But you can't always FORCE people to see your way or even eye to eye.

I'll tell you this though. Fleet IS on the same page right now. I don't honestly know about maintenance?

That's another question I think  MTC's contract is more complex. Will we have to wait for them to show  association unity?

BTW I know it might be spilled milk now but that little appeal to the NMB by Mr Peterson to scuttlebutt the Association "probably" cost us all around 6 months or so? Rough guess in that 6 months of course. The NMB took their sweet time in conducting their investigation to make sure it was Kosher to send it on home without a vote.

If no one had filed an objection we might be getting a TA right about now.

Well he did what he felt he needed to do I guess? But when we bring up history let's not revise it only to suit our liking.

Oh and the Association couldn't function until they got that green stamp of approval. Even Parker said they were waiting to see who would represent us before they could talk.

Don't think they have the same problems on the IAM US side of the fence in Maintenance. Don't hear any dramatics coming out of that camp.

If the parties would have gotten together in November 2014 and worked out their issues, we may have been ready to go in May of 2015 when the NMB certified the Association. They didn't get ready so it took another 45 days to set up meetings and another few months to reconcile....then they start talking in January 2016.

BTW...I guess they resolved those issues from November 2014 which threw a wrench into the process. I say I guess, because you tried to convince everyone those issues would be quickly dealt with. They're resolved, right?

Yes if they had scheduled meetings (Not officially being our Collective Bargaining agent) they could have possibly worked out any differences they had and been ready to shoot right out of the gate?

Now of course again (Dumb Luck) but let's say that the Association had started in May of 2015. Do you think that perhaps we would have been finished before Delta announced an extra 14% there speedy?

Again good timing can be a delicate situation or it could just be a 4 leaf clover.

I believe that you do receive updates now once again? Don't you? Are you trying to allude to there still being some ongoing difficulty?

Maybe you want to convey some inside information that you have been told? Go ahead. We would ALL love to be made aware of what you have to say. Please share.

Why are we always going backwards with the debating. What done is done, let move on with negotiating.

Cat did you read this article by Cranky Flier or something?

"But back to transformation, we can’t forget the past. And it’s really hard to get people to let go, realize the world’s changed, and move forward. A big part of the challenge is just trying to convince people that everything they’ve learned up until now isn’t going to [be the case] in the future.

Specifically to American, the biggest challenge so far vs what I’ve been used to is the labor-management history. That is just hard for people to recognize is behind us. We’ve brought in a lot of new management, and the people who couldn’t quite get there went and did something else, but it’s really hard with the employees. It’s really hard to trust management that the world has changed and that we shouldn’t view each other as enemies instead of as on the same team. It’s going really well, I’m not discouraged by it, but it’s just fascinating on how that history is so hard to get past. But we will."

If Mr.Paker wants his unionized employees to stop looking at the past then he needs to step up and be true to his word and resolve the prefunding issue and give them a bright future to move forward with a solid contract. He and his management needs to demonstrate that his employees can stop looking at him as the enemy. Trust is not freely given but Earned.

Thank you very much , the Cat has left the building!!!!

You even tried to convince us those issues brought up at that time would be taken care or in a matter of weeks. Well, its been about 60 weeks with no resolution.

Now of course again (Dumb Luck) but let's say that the Association had started in May of 2015. Do you think that perhaps we would have been finished before Delta announced an extra 14% there speedy? --As you can see it takes more than 4 months to negotiate a CBA, not to mention a JCBA. But like you've said for the last 15 months....let's be patient.

Again good timing can be a delicate situation or it could just be a 4 leaf clover. --Let me know when we get to your good timing.

I believe that you do receive updates now once again? Don't you? Are you trying to allude to there still being some ongoing difficulty? --Were those initial issues from November 2014 addressed? No, they have not.
