What are we, M & R Related, asking for.

rumor running around is the international already agree to the new cs policy......

and these are the people we want negotiating behind closed doors AGAIN....?

That's what I have heard and then some. Back door deals before the official negotiations are starting. Someone on this board who is a know it all IAM unemployed stock boy expert says nothing was exchanged or talked about. I'll leave him nameless. The two parties already have unofficially presented some of their demands before it officially starts. Typical TWU back door dealing.

CS policy should be based on per station agreements. It should not be contractual. We have many commuters throughout the system that need to CS weekly to spend time with their families. The International does not care because it does not affect them. Shame on the IAM for having their CS policy contractual.

So someone on here would prefer to have an open ended, at will (The whim of management) CS "Swap Shift" policy rather than solid and grievable contract language?

Maybe this individual hasn't been around long enough to remember when CS's were almost unlimited? They took that away. Then a few years ago they chopped a little more. Are you ready for the next policy change? "Here it comes"

We in aircraft maintenance have been reasonable with our policies. From time to time you will have individuals that push things but they have always been dealt with on a individual bases. Maybe in ramp you had unlimited partly because of all the part timers and multiple overlapping shifts between full and part time but in maintenance we only have full time. Hence the forum topic. M&R not ramp.

In m&e we don't do partial shift cs' s. Im sure fleet service will love the new cs policy coming....

But hey its in writing now....

Don't worry. I'm only talking at the moment through the window of your Country Club. But yes it is a bit of a free for all in Fleet and if you aren't having and don't anticipate having problems with the Company POLICY then by all means you should fight and argue to keep it in the company's hands.

If implemented it will possibly make people chose if they want to continue working for AA or maybe another company that provides them with no medical benefits? It could raise the commitment to being with the airline?

It's the commuters that I actually would feel sorry for though.

Through some of your self centered ramblings, sometimes you make very good sense.

Do you mean to tell me, at American, you have a "at the station managers whim" shift swap policy?

How does that work?  The most senior?  The one with the most hair?  Who can polish the foremen's shoes the fastest?

The only way a unified swap policy can work with the combined group, is to have it written in a contract the company must abide by.

I want to tell the company when I want time off.  Not asked them "can I take it"?

I agree, but unfortunately the commuters are going to pay the price thanks to those who choose to live at work around the clock. The abuse of this policy is allowed and those who really rely on it will be the ones most hurt because of it.
When reminders have to be handed out to make sure the 4 day off FAR is complied with, there is something wrong.
