I As A Union Member Have A Better Chance Than A Non-Union Employee.
DP Has Your Pay Scale On His Black Board MINIMUM WAGE.

1. The lowest wage, determined by law or contract, that an employer may pay an employee for a specified job.

IF He Can He Will.
TRUST THE COMPANY And See What We At AWA Learned Back In 1995

if i remember correctly......the likes of AWA,JetBlue and other LCC's came in with no pension plans, minimum fleet sizes and such and basically screwed up the whole industry driving the legacy's into BK...
so now you tout your superior contract that has caused so much misery to the likes of aviation labor? ;)

Dell...it's call capitalism. Don't blame AWA, SWA or any LCC. Legacy's went into bankruptcy because they couldn't or wouldn't adjust to over capcity and stiff competition. Big Airlines carry alot of baggage and aren't very nimble and is hard to get the ship turned around quickly. DP transformed AWA successfully and avoided BK largely because we didn't have all that baggage holding down the ability to rapidly change. Yes the federal loan guarentee was needed too, but bottom line is we also had to transform quickly and we did it.

Victory is a funny thing. What appears to be a victory can actually turn into a defeat over time.

IAM appears to have won a "Victory" with the current NMB decision. But suppose one of these two events occur:

1. IBT by some miracle gets 40% of the group to turn in cards and less than 50% plus 1 actually vote and there is no union of any kind.

2. IAM botches up the transition agreement negotiation and gets itself booted out and AMFA comes in?

So before anyone runs around screaming WE WON! consider what it is you've won and where is the next battle before you declare victory.
Go look at the starter of this thread and he declared this an IAM victory. It's NOT an IAM victory. It's a matter of single carrier status and that's it. Next step is card count, 35% or more show of interest (possibly), then a vote (possibly), and then one union or another or neither, can claim "victory." It's the employees that will ultimately end up victorious or defeated. Not the unions.

Such a strong statement. First of all DP wasn't CEO in 95'. Second of all your statement if he could pay minimum wage carries no credibility. Why? Cause if this were true then back in 2004 when we were profitable he wouldn't have allowed profit sharing. He could have easily said...ya know what folks that darn promise we made to the federal loan guarentee board won't allows us to divie out in money in the form of profit sharing...it has to go to repay the loan. Give some credit where credit is due. I know many of us who were quite happy to get those bonus checks. They were nice!

Some people will never be happy. It's just easier to sit and b*tch about what they don't have or what they lost. We also could've been denied raises, had our holidays cut back, had our vacation time cut back, had our sick time cut back......but no, we didn't. We toughed it out and kept those things.........unlike the IAM contract.

You have no idea what the others you criticize feel like. You would have no problem going into a funeral and telling the grieving mother: Don’t pout, you have other children, that one was a hand full anyway. CEO’s walked away with enough money to take care of “themselves and their familiesâ€￾ for five generations and you say don’t b*tch. With your attitude this insanity will continue because these low life scum called CEO’s and executives know they can continue walking all over your kind, while you sit back and smile telling others to be nice. You are the one who needs the help because you have a mental problem others take advantage of.

If DP could get away with paying minimum wage he would. There is no question about it. No, DP wasn't ceo in '95 but he was tucked under BF's wing for a while. That's a good place to learn. I believe that is awausairtech point. :)

You don't know what I do or don't have an idea about. You are the one that interjected the funeral scenario.......a pretty dark analogy. You only quoted part of the post.....I prefer to be an optimist and not a pessimist. I'm saying, just as EricLv2Fish stated, things were done and they didn't have to do them.......but they did and they very well could've NOT. Optimism just like pessimism........it's a choice. Just like staying or leaving. Have a wonderful day!! :D

That Was My POINT And Not Just DP ALL CEO's From Airlines.

So guilt by association? So you never worked for a SOB? How would you feel if someone thought you were the same SOB just cause you worked for him/her. Minimum wage serves no purpose in maintaining a healthy technical workforce. It's my opinion DP believes this and is smarter than that. Again, we got bonuses, small pay raises all in leiu of an obligation to the federal backed loan guarentee to keep costs in check and despite an industry that as a whole was spiraling downward. How can that not blow your assumption away that "if DP could get away with paying minimum wage he would"? Come on. Don't get me wrong...I'm on your side, but as stated before...give credit where credit is due. <_<
