US/UA Merger Master Thread

I plan on keeping my ramp job. I have already looked at opportunities into keeping my job when the furloughs begin. Any suggestions on where a 12-year "junior" employee with a merged United/USAirways would likely be safe? I'm hoping LAX works, cause I've worked there before and it is the closest to where I am at now...

You can't bump into LAX, just have to hope there are openings, sorry.

OK, Ladies of the New United, repeat after me:

I will not go overwing when I am the A.

One pack of tidbits per customer. What? T-I-D-B-I-T-S Tidbits

Everything tastes better in a plastic party cup.

Customers and fellow employees are the enemy.

DOH on even days, first come first serve on odd days, and a mix of both during a leap year.

No free headsets or minis to anyone--except if they complain about being kicked out of choice seat they paid extra for.

Look both ways before pocketing the liquor money--there may be a Westie waiting to make you verify your liquor count.

Doug Parker is our savior.

and finally...............

The new USAirways, owned, operated and purchased by America West saved United's sorry butt by buying them. Be thankful you have a job.

You're right!!! You should be scared. Run, ....run away.......don't look back. You don't want UAL. Phew.

Think he bought that?

I don't know how happy I'd be.. CAL was unimpressed with their financial position.. Maybe US should be too

yes, but CAL doesn't know how to strip FC of food, glassware, and service. CAL doesn't know how to cram more seats into Y and less into FC. CAL doesn't understand that making fuel stops to get where you are going is ok. CAL doesn't understand that charging high fares for no value added is how to operate an airline. CAL doesn't understand that the customers are the enemy. CAL doesn't understand that unhappy employees are how you make money. CAL just doesn't get it. I think it was UAL who shunned CAL.

With fuel over $120.00 a barrel and you're still concerned about glassware in FC?

 I'm not really sure how I feel about this merger so far. I feel bad for many people that will lose their jobs, including the people at corporate in Tempe :( I think all of us will have a big life change with bases in complete disarray

It sounds like DP will go to the most expensive contract like he wanted to do with Delta, that would make everyone just "go with it" for the most part I guess and hopefully it will work for all of us. I will just drink my chardonnay in the process!!

This isn't popular....BUT...if it wasn't for Doug Parker..America West would have gone away shortly have 9/11 and US Airways wouldn't be around either unless some other fool picked them up.(doubtful). I don't like everything about him  but I'm also glad he's in charge  during most years of my 16 year career. LCC doesn't sound popular but it's what has worked for us and we at America West have done it for so long now, it's no big deal. I don't think the UAL deal will result in LCC type business...but it will be close!!! We are so broke right now..i'm just glad to have a job. My husbands company started laying off last week and now we're going to have think hard about stuff.

OUCH!

Thank you for flying the new and sucky USAirways...owned, poorly operated, and saved by the miracle workers in Tempe.

When is the Anne Sullivan plane being unveiled?

But then again, I'd never get to fly with you Fly.. ;)

You’re absolutely right DesertFA. Everyone loves to make fun of Tempe and Doug but if he goes from where AWA was pre 911 to the CEO of the world largest airline that will be pretty impressive and he didn't get there by being stupid. My own job could very well be eliminated but I think this is better than another round of BK next year, which is almost a certainty.

I have seen other articles that said it would be the largest. I guess it depends on what the metric is. Employees, ASM, Aircraft, Cities served, Revenue??????
