Typical USAPA spin. Maybe an occasional fact check would be in order...

RATHER THAN DELETE THIS POST WHICH PERPETUATES A POST WHICH VIOLATES THE RULES I AM LEAVING IT UP WITH A WARNING-- DO NOT RESPOND TO PERSONAL COMMENTS OR ATTACKS.
Sorry about this folks. Sometimes I can't resist correcting blatantly false info. My apologies for breaking the rules.

You got a job with USAirways as a pilot by attending a job fair in 2007?

I got the INTERVIEW through meeting with US Airways at the job fair in 2007. That's the best way to get interviews these days, sorry that things are different from what you are used to. And yes as a pilot if that's what you were asking. There were 80 or so pilots hired to the East side off the street in 2007/2008. And yes onto the 190.

Welcome back Tripod. There are persistent but unverified rumors of 3 757's coming from an unnamed Chinese carrier. Totally unverified.

There were actually 80-90 that were hired to the east and some did go to the 737 and Airbus as well. There were also another 16 new hires that were originally slated for the east but got sent to phx on the 737 and Airbus. It amazes me how out of touch some people are with the airline. I have heard from numerous pilots recently that they had no idea we hired in 07/08 and didn't realize we had pilots furlough. Come on now, that is pretty sad. Wake The F&%* up!!

Some of these recalled and new hires could actually end up on the little bus 737 or 757 as the earlier group recalled have most likely been trained and frozen to the 190. So it is not absolutely certain the new hires and recalls go to the 190 as some have said. This has happened before.

While some of the recalled pilots could indeed go to equipment other than the E190, the equipment freeze ended when they were furloughed and they've been out long enough that the training is no longer current - they'd have to go through the whole initial again after 2 years have elapsed from the previous training.

Just talked with a guy in the CLT trng center. They are talking hiring 300 a year for the forseable future. There are that many anticipated retirements coming, coupled with the flight time-duty time stuff coming down the road. As far as I know this is the East alone. I have no clue as to what the West has with retirements. As of right now, it doesn't matter as we are in total separate ops.

It doesn't matter to you, it's does to the furloughed West guys.

I can certainly see a bump in hiring due to the new flight/duty time rules (whatever they say and whatever phase in period is allowed once the rules becomes final), but it will be several years after 2012 before retirements that create a vacancy come close to 300/year.

Won't furloughed west pilots be offered east slots before we hire off the street?

Assuming those with full sick banks go all the way to 65. And that others will pass their medicals all the way to the end. I anticipate a lot will leave with SS and PBGC and some with mil. The company is anticipating the worst.

That's the way it'd supposed to work. I think the question is whether they'll recall the West furloughees (to one side or the other) before recalling the 2007/2008 hires.

This just in from Judge Silver

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED USAPA shall file a motion of no more than twenty-five pages no later than September 21, 2010.

Roslyn O. Silver
United States District Judge
DATED this 17th day of September, 2010.
So yesterday was the deadline. Any word on weather USAPA got it right this time? After the last waste of time and money, I'd be skeptical. Especially if it was my dues money. There's no telling with their track record.
