Per the TA agreement, the East can bargain for a separate agreement. When the 9th issued its mandate, it lifted the injunction forbidding this.

I think the company would have a problem with seperate contracts.

Further, that whole single carrier status thing was not yet determined when the TA was written.

In a nutshell, seperate contracts ain't gonna happen. It is LOA 93 and Contract 2004, repectively until a Nic inclusive joint contract is ratified.
 
Keeping national officers from a local meeting with a pending DFR suit waiting in the wings. That does not sound like a smart thing to do to me. Unless the block these guys from going to an east meeting I would guess usapa just created a problem for themselves.

Maybe the pending DFR suit is the very reason they were advised not to attend. I suspect (really, I am certain, but I will play nice and just say "suspect") that they would have been subject to a lot of angry invective and verbal abuse. Case in point: When one of your west pilots has the temerity to turn to the vice president of the company and seethe: "We HATE you guys" in front of a room full of colleagues while being videotaped, one can only imagine what might be in store for two USAPA officers.

That being said, with a pending DFR suit and no attorney present to filter their comments, it is wise, I think, to take a pass rather than be browbeaten into saying something that could be used later against the union.
 
I was there. Fifteen minutes before the meeting was to start at 1100 Streble and Hummel walked in to the room. There were just a few of us waiting around and they introduced themselves and shook hands. Then they disappeared. At the beginning of the meeting Chairman Braid announced they'd received a call ordering them not to attend the meeting and had departed. We were all stunned and mystified.

This begs a number of questions. Since the PHX domicile meeting was open to all USAPA members in good standing by what authority can Streble and Hummel be ordered not to attend? And why on earth did they obey such an order?
Two days have now passed and we've heard no further word on the issue. Just shows to go you how screwed up the East is. It doesn't matter which alphabet soup union is in charge.

Well, first I will admit that I have gained some respect for these two individuals for agreeing to come in the first place and making the trip to PHX. They obviously intended to attend, and that says something. I know there are numerous questions from West pilots regarding billing, I have read elsewhere that West pilots on dues check off had recieved reconciliation statements that made no sense, and had other questions for Streble as well.

I just find it extremely strange that this went down. These two come all the way to PHX to attend a meeting, that they know could place them in an uncomfortable position, yet they are still willing to do it, then at the eleventh hour give a mysterious no can do and leave.

This is really fishy.

You are 100% wrong. Easties have attended every PHX and LAS domicile meeting to date. No problems. Your Dear Leader Cleary is likely still p.o.ed about the search for a new building thing and felt he had to flex his muscle.

BTW, a little birdy told me a Cleary recall effort is in the works. Stay tuned.

Also, I think you are confused about the "We hate you guys" video. If it is the one I am thinking of, that was taped at the usapa pre-election roadshow in PHX and the pilot was addressing Bradford, Theur, Seham, et al.

Is there another one at a company crew news of which I am unaware? And, if so, which vice-president did the pilot address?

Are you kidding me? You put "Sure most would like DOH as if favors our side, that's human nature" in the same boat with "Please do not group the rest of us human beings along with the east pilots"? It is human nature to want what favors you. Hopefully one can see that it might not always be the right path, but I have say that if you never lean towards what favors you, there is something wrong with you. Do you have a fondness for bad investment? Do you drive around looking for higher priced gas? I never said that wanting something makes it right or wrong, it's just how most are wired. I can't wait to the the completely altruistic UA seniority proposal.

Look, you were offended. I was offended. Maybe we are both putting more into it than necessary. Since I generally respect you for at least having the decency to consider other people's opinions, and if it will end this particular feud, then I will apologize for the harsh words. I guess I could have chosen something less drastic to make my point.

Clarification would be helpful in your statement in order to understand how this relates to the present situation we are discussing. Did you ever apply for USAirways or America West Airlines when you were seeking employment?

I hate to see what happens when someone cuts in front of you in the supermarket! So one can infer from your admission of loathing for USAirways pilots, that all your opinions in this labor forum are definitely going to be colored.And colored in favor of west pilots.

Looking for a new headquarters in PHX makes perfect sense (unless you can't wrap your mind around the fact that PHX is the largest crew base) since it is adjacent the company HQ.

Cleary recall? That's a start!

Yes. The video of which I speak took place in PHX, but it was quite a while ago. Both Lyle Hogg and Ed Bular were in attendance, and this west pilots' question was redirected by Parker to Lyle Hogg. Shortly after Hogg commented, the westie turned around to Hogg and/or Bular and said, "We HATE you guys." A true professional display for everyone to see.

Read the posts previous to the last page and you will realize who is being referred to. If you get your information from one source, ie: last forum page or last AOL update, you will be deficient in the information you need for a cognoscente post.
