And that union, democratically elected, once represented the same workforce.

When a child hides beneath a pillowcase, they are still a child. They don't become a pillow.

When a union represents pilots, it's still the same pilots- regardless of what they're hiding beneath.

A young boy walks into the celestial candy store, hand in hand with his uncle nic. He examines the various confections.....and, after some consideration, asks his uncle if he can dip down deep into the one labeled "Years of Other's Lives and Hard Work". His uncle shrugs and says..."Well..why not? Go ahead and take your fill, and while you're at it; have a handfull of Cherry Integrity and some Honor Fudge on the way out". NOTHING is then paid for any of these "treats"......Who's the "thief"?

Integrity means doing what you promised to do in a binding agreement.

Cue the violins.....ready the kleenex....forget the fact that the "candy" was not so much in a celestial store but a rotten garbage heap.

Hey! I love violin music. There's little so exquisitely fine in life more than a top-shelf orchestra! ..but anyway...Sheesh!....Here's and easy fix for all that = Stay outta' the candy stores and garbage heaps!

1) I'm not a believer in initiating cockpit conversation that involves politics or religion...and the nic seems to embody both for west folks. The cockpit is NOT the place to hold someone "hostage" to one's own issues. Doing anything of the sort is hardly the least bit professional, and is entirely inappropriate. It's a pity the west group completely neglected any such philosophy where jumpseats are concerned. As for "expect an earful"? I'd neither offer nor even briefly tolerate any such BS. Your previous observation that "Insubordination would be an understatement" is of considerable interest to me, and I'll note that nothing to defend that has yet been offered.

2) No kidding? Ummm..why have so many west people missed even that basic a concept when fretting over such childish stupidities as who's in their jump seats? Substitute "west" for "east" in your statement and kindly explain that one to all of us.
In fairness to you personally; we've previously both noted that neither of us are among those that deny rides to the other side.

I am curious by your "quote". Refusing to sell one's coworkers of many, many years out for said 30 peices of silver hardly seems contemptable to me....what am I missing?

First, jumpseat denial, was hardly a West exclusive behavior, and I do not care which side started it, but the one and only time I requested an east jumpseat, I was denied, and I understand you have a similar experience. But I will affirm, as I am sure you would also, that I will not deny a jumpseat because of my own experience with a less than cordial east captain.

To the "Insubordination" or "expect an earful" comments. Lets say I get displaced to A320 F/O. I show up for a trip with a former east captain, introduce myself, fly the trip, go home, no big deal. But if s/he brings up the Nic or usapa during the trip, I am not going to sugar coat my opinion. I would inform them of just exactly how I felt about the topic and/or any of its supporters. For example:

Capt: What do you think of usapa's latest slam dunk pie in the sky grievence?
F/O Nic4us: I think usapa is a ???? organization and any usapa supporter is a ????, and this is just another attempt by the ???? organization to delay implementation of the Nic, What do you think of that Olympic speed skater winning all those medals?
Capt: Wait a second, I am a usapa supporter.
F/O Nic4us: well then, I think you must be a ????.

Support of your long term coworkers is fine. Support them by seeking an improvement to their situation. But by seeking to help them improve their position by a direct assault on your new coworkers position (i.e. helping them take from the West) is not okay, and do not be surprised if you are told so, very directly, by a West pilot.

Tell me that the people of Rome didn't feel their lots much improved, whenever at all possible, simply by keeping the "barbarians at the gates" from entering and looting the city..? Ummm...Unfair example?...Sigh...OK then: Kindly explain how accepting the nic would truly benefit the east overall, in ANY way, shape or form?

Two young boys walk into a candy store with their uncle. Their uncle says, "I will give you each a dollar to buy candy". The older brother says, "that is not fair, I am older, I have been your nephew longer, I deserve more". The uncle says, "it does not matter that you are older, I have been your father's brother since the day he was born, that is what makes me your uncle, and as your uncle, I care for you both equally, and you will share what I give you equally". The older boy says well that is BS kills the uncle, takes the money, buys the candy and informs his younger brother that there may be some candy left for him if after he samples it, if there is something he does not like.

You tell me who the theif is?

Great stories everyone, they make me laugh, now on your point of flying with the capt. I am hoping that once this is behind us, all will be professional, but the same could happen in reverse, hope not but it might.

Things have a way of working themselves out, especially after a carpet dance in the CP office.

One side of such a confrontation risks losing the last flying job they'll ever get, the other risks a job that only pays about $8/hour over what they could make at Republic.

Things have a way of working themselves out. ;)

Whatever Aesop.

You forget to mention the part about a career in full retrograde and an airline on the verge of liquidation.

But hey, spin your fables to suit your paradigm.

A whopping 135?..That's pretty sad sir.

What is even sadder is that a top of scale Group 2 Captain on the East side no longer even earns a "whopping 135".

And it's nothing to laugh about.......
