US-AA Merger Articles (Merged Topics)

And we hope for the sake of US employees it does not happen also, that's why I can't understand why the APA pilots don't oppose this merge. they really need to man up.
LOL! man up? APA has control over squat.. We have guys that think Parker is a great guy who knows how to run an airline.. Those same guys don't believe Eastie bus captains are making $20 less/hour less than Allegiant captains.

We have guys that look at the two route maps overlaid who then say, Yup, thats good enough for me, without looking at where the LCC guys are going to flush when the LCC network gets "right sized".

We have guys who are convinced AMR management IS Satan himself and will do anything to get away from them and any new management team will suffice.

We have guys who think bigger is better and it doesn't matter who we merge with, so long as we merge.

We have guys who have analyzed the seniority lists and see that the upper end of your list is peppered with old farts, and will be in a much higher seniority percentage is 5 or so years, and thats all that matters to them.

We have guys that think because LCC is making money, huge raises are in the cards for everyone if we merge.

We even have a few guys who think it will be great to not have to commute any more....

We have guys that think Doug Parker is a visionary who really knows how to run a world class airline, when reality shows us he hasn't merged two failed airlines, and is making money because their labor rates are 19% below industry average.

We have guys who don't care what the merged companys debt will look like, or even be manageable..

If this merger happens, the wake up call will come to guys when they look at the fact that the places we need help the most, haven't been addressed. LAX and JFK.

So LUV.... Tell me, when are you boys gonna man up and accept the arbitrated list you guys agreed to arbitrate?

BTW, whats with these two giant debt payments LCC has coming up in 2014? What are they and how much are they?

Well you are obviously a westie in disguse,or don't know about the NIC. Every AA pilot that I come in contact with does not want the NIC they know it will push them way back, and also most of the ones I ask want nothing to do with this merge, yes we have some here that want to. I know you don't want it and I don't want it but will see..PS some of our guys wanted to pretend to be AA pilots also.

And nobody sees that Parker really is a financial genius. Let's forget what IS going on at US, and let me ask a WHAT IF...

What if EVERYTHING went hunky-dory at the merger and the pilots formed a union? How many contracts and raises would have been negotiated AS A WHOLE at this time? Those raises have been in the bank earning interest. You can honestly say Multi-billions in 7 years...AS A WHOLE.

As far as Parker is concerned, the more contracts on hold the more $$$$$$$$. As far as US labor is concerned, don't let history repeat itself.

luv, I'm very familiar with the NIC. You've mistakenly maintained your death grip on a dream that the NIC will be dissolved and a new list will miraculously appear and be in your favor -- for reasons unknown...

Its been 7 years. Hows it working out for you?

Funny that you say AA guys don't want the NIC... I haven't flown with one that has even discussed to topic on NIC VS. No NIC. No NIC is a complete unknown, and most likely extremely unlikely.... DOH is a fantasy.... So how can you hold a position that an unknown will be better? There's laws out there right now pretty much guaranteeing the award you have...

Straight number wise if we were to merge in an independent East, we'd fare better due to the larger number of wide bodies we have. Note: d.o.h is irrelevant (did you get that?)

There are younger westies in higher seniority ranges, but they brought no wide bodies...

(I understand the NIC and have the entire award in pdf. Would you like me to post it?)

Below link is the presentation Doug Parker gave in DCA today at the National Press Conference touting the benefits of a merger with American Airlines.

How many holes can you find in this speech!!!!???????

US Airways has been able to show a profit because of the past two bankruptcies that gave them the lowest employee costs in the industry, not because they have a sound business plan in place other than that. He speaks to all the benefits in bankruptcy e.g. destroying contracts and forcing new ones, and screwing the creditors by getting out of lease liabililites and dumping that to the taxpeayers. He goes further on to say that AA does not have a presence on the east coast and misses out on the revenue stream....meanwhile back at the US airways OK corrale, they closed Pittsburgh, BOS and LGA in 4 short years of emerging from BK. He doesn't mention that mergers are WORSE for the flying public because of less competition, whereby gouching the public with increase fares to infinity! Any hiring that has taken place of recent is due to years of steady and massive attrition. Perod, buddy! Whose he kidding here????

And this quote makes me laugh, how blatantly disingenuous!
"
First of all, from the first time we ever mentioned the benefits of mergers we have always said there is no need for US Airways to participate – and that is most certainly the case today."

UHHH, HELLO???? COME AGAIN????? US Airways tried to acquire DL while they were in BK to the tune of $11 billion in 2006. That flopped as they did not get congressional approval.

I posted this on the AA Board as well. Geezus people!!!!

You dont need Congressional approval anymore just the Department of Justice.

Thanks for posting that hyper-link.

APFA Pres was present...why wasn't AFA included at this event?

Why would AFA be present? This merger would be a potential mess from integration issues including the TWA folks that would need to be made whole... to who will be the representing union??? Then there is the question of years (7) negotiating for a America West and U joint contract...and that hasn't happened. There were no labor leaders from the East or West from U present. Think about that.

Douggie Parker has focused on making deals with employees that are not his or part of U. He is not sitting down with his own labor groups to try to give them their contracts first.
