TWU negotiations.........what?

Can anyone tell me what the TWU plan is? We have been in negotiations for over a year now and we see nothing and hear of no direction or how they plan to make us whole again. The worst part of it all is that the TWU negotiating committee will share proposals with the company but not their own members! Is it just me or does this whole process seem flawed?

The plan is to remain in secret negotiations. WE are all hoping someone actually gets elected that will share information in defiance of the Burchette/Little doctrine. To date, every one elected just conforms to the working together union busting secrecy.

"FLAWED"? understated word to describe what we are putting up with.

well once again the TWU is behind the eight ball. It is my understanding that Continental Airlines is offering regional pay to certain coastal cities. If this comes to be then the TWU will try to take credit for getting it at AA just like they did in 2001! The TWU are followers not leaders.

Oh come on,Chuck! Everyone knows it was the "WILL STRIKE IF PROVOKED" T-Shirts that brought the company to it's knees back in 2001. Those shirts really scared them,I tell you. Nothing beats TWU power in negotiations with the company. Those AMFA nuts at NWA didn't have clue back in 2001. The TWU has always been the leader that the whole airline industry envies.

well lets recap:

The TWU wasted the last 18 months of our money and time with great negotiating skills.
The restore and more campaign was compromised when the company made the first offer and the TWU International said to the negotiating committee to "bring it back to members and let them decide" That vote was 11 to 9 not to bring it back. Too close for comfort!
mediation will look at what was put on the table not what you hoped for!

Well now lets evaluate their next move:

The company always wanted a 2 year extension from the beginning. If we file for mediation it could take a couple years to come to an agreement or just drag out the negotiations. Either way the company gets the extension at no cost and the TWU will blame the members.
will the TWU/AA guarantee retro pay for its members as a penalty for this mess?

no retro/no contract

No contract just plays into their hands, so that's not a solution. We need to get them now on a contract that gives us some back without putting the entire company in jeopardy like the pilots want to do.

I am waiting to see what comes out of the intensive talks early next month. I remain guardedly optimistic for now.

What makes you feel that the pilots are putting the company in jeopardy? Because the company said so?

It's usually that way isn't it Bob? It's like watching only FOX news instead of trying to make up your own mind by reading several news sources on a subject.

the last union proposal will be the best we can get if we go to mediation and probably end up being much less than that since the company's counter will be totally opposite. The Mediator will work off those submitted parameters and then the TWU will blame the Mediator and the negotiating committee. What does the TWU International actually do for us relating to negotiations again? I must be missing something.

That's why it's called the Faux Noise Network.

Speaking of the last union proposal, has anyone from any title group actually seen these alleged proposals?

Why are they guarded closer than state secrets in the old Soviet Union?

well it appears that super negotiations in DFW are going according to plan. Not our plan but according to someone's plan! Any comments?
