TWU negotiations.........what?

Latest rumor out of negotiations is an increase of 40% OSM in TUL in both shops and docks to save jobs, along with 7 day coverage for keeping 767 and 777 in house and supported by Local 514 and TWU International.

As I would expect from TWU and American......everything is already set up for 777/767 at AFW......million plus docks specifically set up for the 777...bay 4 and bay 6....also better turn times there.....same idiotic decission making prevails.

Let me clear, Crystal, is there any other kind, I never said AFW was going to stay open.

Local 514 will kill any other local just to save its own skin, ask any former 530 member.

565 is having a buffet....Long time Treasurer resigned today along with EAP rep., benefits coordinator was fired last week......Good Times! ;)

You were paraphrasing in your post......I'm not commenting on you....commenting on the decission to close AFW and move 777/767 to Tulsa and the new B scale mechanics they want there.

B-scale? Are you referring to the OSM?

How do you define "Artificially High"?
Are you aware that the average hourly top rate for mechanics is currently over $38/hr, not counting UPS or Fed Ex?
AA is only paying $33 and looking to slash that another 50 cents.
Are you aware that most mechanics in our industry get 10 holidays at 2.5x? That translates into 120 hours of extra pay if worked.
AA only pays 5 at 1.5 x, the least and lowest in the industry, we get 100 hours less pay than most of our peers working the Holidays. That comes out to $3800 less for us than our peers even if we were paid the same, which we are not.
Are you aware that we get a weeks less vacation than the rest of the industry for the first 30 years of our careers?
Are you aware that we are at the bottom in nearly every form of compensation?

According to you, expecting to get what everyone else gets for doing the same work is an "Artificially high" expectation.

The fact is that AA ran into BK with over $4 billion in cash. We could not stop AA from burning cash over the last 8 years. Whether it was automatically shiping parts around the system just for the heck of it (around 70% of the parts they ship AOG are returned unused, they would automatically ship parts back to the base if they were not used within a certain timeframe, spend $20 to ship 30 cents worth of washers for no reason other than they were not used within the timeframe they allotted, ship expendables such as windshield wipers back to the base out of line stations then lose trips due to having no wipers in stock) or any of the other countless expenditures they indulged in.

The fact is we do our jobs as well as any mechanics in the industry but we are the worst as far as compensation. Who has "Artificial expectations", us, or management? The biggest threat to the financial well being of A&P mechanics in this industry is not foreign maintenence, its American Airlines.

Are you aware that FEDEX and UPS outsource most of their airframe and engine overhaul unlike AA? That AA will have to layoff thousands of workers to get the remaining ones those wages?

Are you aware that FEDEX and UPS fly cargo and have lower overhead?

Are you aware that you said the $37/hour in the TA was no good and we could get better? That you would rather take your chances with the judge?

Are you aware that all those other airlines that have 10 holidays have outsourced most of their overhaul to cover the cost of those holidays?

Are you aware that if we were like those other airlines that have more VC they only offer it to the remaining people that did not have their jobs outsourced?

Are you aware that you use cherry picked facts to make your arguments?

Are you aware that your predictions have all been artificial and the reality of law has taken over?

nicely said, bob's views and ideas are way out there. Maybe he has not taken his meds lately

Are you aware that Fed Ex and UPS always sent that work out, even when we made more than them?

Are you aware tht AA dumped most of their cargo because they did not feel it was profitable enough?

Are you aware of all the concessions that were tied to the TA including having to turn over our Prefunding for sick time credits that could only be used to buy retiree medical at inflated rates that could be raised even higher after three years?

As far as your claim that outsourcing pays for the holidays please present your proof, if outsoucing pays for he holidays does it also pay the $17 more per hour they get at UPS? If that's the case then why is AA looking to only pay us a max of $32.77/hr with 50% outsourcing? If outsoucing is such a great deal then why isn't AA offering at least industry average in exchange for increased outsourcing? How come in four years of negotiations AA never even proposed matching compensation and outsourcing?

Are you aware that our management still has 10 holidays? Wouldn't the ranks of management also be reduced by outsourcing?

Seems that you are the one cherry picking. You never fail to leave out the fact that none of our competitors who outsourced oh had Osms and that osms lowered AAs average costs below what competitors could achieve even with the concessions they got in BK.Show me proof hat AA will outsource all that work, the fact is that AA has around 1700 mechanics without system protection, in other words they could lay hem off under the agreement as is but instead of laying off they have been hiring for the last two years.
