TWU negotiations.........what?

Rumor has it, the companies presentation last week went something like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1owcncKCHg

Today I was informed from a very reliable source that our AMT friends at Fed Ex recently got a raise to $44hr, and at that rate he said they are making around $90k a year with no overtime.

I know AA management at Centerpork only uses the cargo carriers and Southwest when it suits them, so I guess the TWu International will have to forgo this information in it's next concession package they will push for a "yes" vote on.

The aversion to using the figures from Southwest and cargo has been a major challenge. Those who say that we cant compare ourselves to them fail to come up with arguements that make sense, the split between the pay workers at those carriers recieve and what we get has never been this wide and their is no reason for it. Historically we have always been pretty close in pay even those there's always been a 'profitability gap". We hear the pundits say "Well those carriers are profitable, yours isnt" well if thats the case shouldnt that be a reason why our executives should make less and not the workers? Does AA pay less for fuel because they dont make as much money off it? Why should they pay less for labor? Do we control the company? We have done our jobs, and done it well, if the carrier isnt profitable, even with much lower wages its managements fault,if they decide to rip out all the seats and install big cargo doors I have no say in that. Another line we hear is that "We have all this in house maintenance", well I've never been shown any evidence that the company would save money by outsourcing, I believe they save huge amounts by insourcing, a recent article in the WSJ about Aircraft Paint shops only reinforces my beliefs. In the article they said they charge anywhere from $50,000 (A320)to $200,000 (777)for a paint job, well information I've been given is that we paint our MD-80s for less than half of $50,000, let alone $200,000.

Maybe the fact that fuel consumption is approximately the same for a FDX aircraft as any AMR or other airline's aircraft has escaped you...

But as soon as you start looking at employee based metrics, your arguments fall apart Bob because AMR's "consumption" of employees is nowhere near that of any other airline when you look at maintenance.

If you want higher wages, cut your consumption/employees to the same staffing levels as FDX and SWA. Then maybe your comparisons can be used a little more honestly.

Oh, and before you go off on the tangent, management staffing ratios and the number of executives are comparable at both airlines.

That TWU convention video is a real morale booster. Those clowns are smiling all the way to the bank.... I'm glad I had dinner several hours ago otherwise it might have come up on my keyboard.

Everytime I see James C. Little only one thing comes to my mind.

"WITHOUT FURTHER RATIFICATION"

These words were spoken from his mouth shortly after he said we must have a complete re-vote to have legitimate agreement.
That agreement is now approaching 8 years in length.

Jeezus, that video is such a lie, from the start to the finish. I'm glad I didn't eat breakfast this morning, watching these TWu crooks blow sunshine is just sickening. TWu sellout Joey Gorden shouts from the podium; "We're gonna kick some ass!!!" Yeah???.... Who's ass is he talking about? The beleaguered AA TWu members he pretends to "represent" that have suffered for almost 8 long years under the most massive TWu concessions ever forced on a membership of ANY airline???!!! I guess that's who he is talking about, his own AA TWu members. He isn't worried though, his unelected TWu International mega salary increased a massive 123% from 2003 to 2010. So he's not worried what-so-ever, he's rolling in TWu cash. No pay cut for him.

Now, with American predicted to begin to make big money in 2011 (JP Morgan Chase and Co Analyst Jamie Baker; "The company will turn a significant margin corner" in 2011) the TWu can't get anything but MORE concessions???

Surely, with all that superior TWu "American's Real Strength", millions in dues being spent on worthless ineffective "leadership", this sham of a "union" can't do better than peddling more concessions again in 2010???

I just can't believe it.....

We definitely want higher wages so if you could provide more details on how labor can cut its consumption/employees, I'm all ears. You act as though labor has control over how the compAAny is managed.

Just watched the video - rather nauseating. I still think Little Jimmy is kin to Willie Walsh, the BA CEO - looks just like him.

Gee Eric.....If AA wants FDX and SWA staffing levels, then IT IS THEIR DECISION!!!!
I am sure they can figure out how to get rid of OH!
Tell me why they haven't even attempted this transition?
And please, don't blame the contract!

A trip to the bankruptcy court would be all behind us now!

The American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations merged in 1955 to form the AFL-CIO -- an umbrella organization that represented the vast majority of America's unionized workers, until 2005. Saying that "the American labor movement at the level of the AFL-CIO has lost its way" and that it has "lost its hope," several large unions quit the AFL-CIO to form the Change to Win coalition. As a result of these defections, the number of workers represented by the AFL-CIO has fallen from thirteen million to nine million

What a waste of our money!

Found this list surfing the above link, what exactly does this mean? Rejection or certification of the twu? If so, they added quite a few more dues suckers. I'm more confident in my twu unity, now that we certified "Rainbow Towing" We will definatly have more PULL now! LOL

If you're smart enough to deice an airplane, I'm sure you can figure out what needs to be done to get AMR down to the staffing levels at FDX and SWA....

We know exactly what needs to be done. Our crew submitted a letter to the manager, signed by all, explaining our desire to increase productivity in order to cover a future increase in work load. Our offer was rejected and our crew headcount was doubled without even giving us a chance to prove ourselves. When leadership is so disconnected that it can't distinguish numbers on a paper from reality, what else can we do?? BTW, deicing a plane in AO is a no brainer as you simply pull it in the hangar and let it simmer at room temperature.

Nice duck, cant answer the question so make a snyde remark.

Why should AA have to staff like FDX and SWA? Maybe they should switch to Freight and do away with first and business class?
