It is not a representational election, it is a straight yea or nay for the association.

Q: Will I have the opportunity to vote on whether or not I am represented by the
Association?
A: Yes. Following the completion of the American – US Airways’ merger, the
Associations will file representation applications with the National Mediation Board
(NMB), a federal agency, which will culminate in three separate elections, one for each
of the Mechanic & Related, Fleet Service and Stores classifications. You will vote in the
election of the classification in which you work with others from both carriers.

6. Q: Will I still be a member of my Union, or will I become a member of the Association?
A: The Association will have no members, but it will hold certification for the combined
work group. Union membership will be based on a person’s location, as outlined in
Appendix B to each Association agreement.

It is a representational election.
If I get to vote on being represented by the TWU or the IAM or accept the joint venture of both unions it is a representational election.
You will also have a choice to write in the Union of your choosing (AMFA) and a choice for No Union.

You are not voting in a regular union election, contact the NMB and you will see.

So if the end result is a "no" for the association, then what?

Good question. Do we keep status quo and then have to have a run off since the members voted against the Association? Does one union concede over the other?
Do we vote ourselves out of representation? Sounds like this is a election under the NMB since they watch and control unions and representational elections.

If the association is voted down, both groups stay in their respective unions and then the normal merger process happens, cards would have to be gathered to trigger an election, etc...

Although the vote (Association) will not happen until after the merger, it's simple, AA'ers need to vote AMFA in, then you guys at US can and will see how things are done with AMFA at AA. Once merger is done then US guys need to vote "NO" for the new "Association, and then push for AMFA at their carrier, and even if there is another election for AMFA at US it will be at that time that the entire new AA is represented by AMFA.
Please be just a little more patient about the AA guys filing. There are still 2 weeks left in May. I know a lot of you are extremely anxious to get this done and overwith, but please, please allow the organizers to file when they see it best to file, they do know when, they do know how, and they do know why, it is all for the betterment of getting AMFA in at AA. I can assure you guys there will be a filing with the NMB, but it will be at the correct time to ensure when (not IF but WHEN) the company (AA) and your current union (TWU) get word of the filing they will pad the list just like they both did last time by working together to keep AMFA out by 27 cards. The organizers want to be very positive that this does not happen again. But, for some reason they are successful keeping AMFA out again you guys will be stuck with the concessionary, company yes union the TWU for life. You guys have come this far, let see it thru to victory for AMFA @ AA 2013!!!

The best chance for both unions IMO is to vote the association, then allow US to strengthen their position at the table in Sec 6. Obtain a industry leading contract ( if Possible ), and then the transition of both groups could be worth more than the MOU signed earlier this year.......its a position of strength then.......

. Your kidding, right? Your talking about the twu and the iam. You realize that don't you? Industry leading contract and strength in numbers does not go hand in hand with the twu or iam. Both have the worst pay and benefits in the industry. Ok I'll stop laughing now.

Laugh all you want...another chance like this will not come around again. I think you know that! I just dont know if everybody believes it. It doesn't matter what union you want. This is a chance to move fwd. ........Believe it or not

You ever thought about how the 2 unions might control single carrier status that the New AA might want so eagerly?

You are either clueless or a International stooge for the TWU or IAM. Nobody in their right mind would vote this in and think it will make us stronger. Leading industry contract? With whom are you referring too? Can not be the TWU or IAM and sure as hell not the Teamsters.
