Transport Workers and Machinist Union to Jointly Represent Ground Workers at the "New" American Airl

Too late for that buddy... Americans want cheaper products.. it's why we have children dying in factory fires in Bangladesh. It's also why you buy at Walmart and finally it's why tens of thousands of your brothers in aviation are out of work today, deregulation.

It's never too late.

I don't shop at Wal*Mart, either...

Everybody wants to pay as little as possible. Look at how many union people shop at Walmart. But even though thousands of jobs have been lost I dont know any aircraft mechanics who are unemployed. The fact is mechanics are leaving this industry faster than the jobs are leaving. While AA has furloughed guys in AFW and Tule they are hiring off the street in line stations. From what I hear US despite having hundreds on recall is hiring off the streets so is CAL and even WN.

The low cost post bk legacies have painted themselves in a corner. They have old pissed off workforces. If they do furlough the very slim strata of young workers they most likely will never see them again. Their unit costs increase instead of decrease and when the old start leaving at around the same rate they entered in the late 80s early 90s they will face a critical shortage. There is no pool of mechanics from which to draw from. The lccs that used to provide experienced mechanics to the legacies pay better. With no DB pensipn and the ondognificance of seniority at AA there will be nothing holding the few workers they do get.

Hey Guys! As I've said all along, "there's more to life out there than airplanes!" ------- Hey Bob, when you going to sell that over priced house you live in in N.Y.,? Come on down to the land of sun, coco nut trees, and blue seas? I've got a hamock, just like mine, on the beach along with a rum and coke just waiting for you!

One in college two more behind her its going to be a while before I can hang out in a hammock

This so called agreement is a total farse. They couldn't do anything for their respective members, so now they team up to screw us collectively. Aint that a crock.

Unions working together for a common goal? Represent the best interest of the membership? Instead of using money to fight off each other? Interesting concept!!!! Getting more common than you think!!! Many examples thru-out United States.

Every time I see this I am dumbfounded.
The iam and twu make up this crap, and lemmings like you endorse it.
Unbelievable!
If you guys N'Gals let the iam and twu get away with this crap, then you deserve what you get!
Where is the outrage?
If that happened to me I would be livid!
No input from the membership much less a vote!
You want to see why unions are dying?
Just follow their actions!

CIO, you are a perfect example of why all industrial unions will some day be out of our industry completely. Your brain washed ideas are just like coming out of the mouths of the industrial unions leaders. How pathetic you sound with your reasoning that it was a good thing that the TWU and IAM just performed another "behind close door" deals, with no membership input, involvement, or a vote. Once AMFA gets in at AA, then prevail after the merger is done you will be very thank full that AMFA will be your representational union. You will be overwhelmed at how much stuff you guys will have to vote on in the beginning to get things started as this union is controlled and ran by mechanic membership, not appointed leaders with no interest in doing what the membership wants.

The Members are going to vote on the association, there wont be one unless the members approve it.

If this is true I hope the membership from both AA and US overwhelmingly reject the new "Association" vote. This is clearly a desperation move to try and deflect AMFA from getting in. You guys that really do want new representation at US need to vote no on this new "Association" So when is the vote? Will it take place prior to the NMB giving up the results for a possible election for the teamsters? You guys have a lot on your plate at US, good luck...

If you read any of the press releases or the agreements it is clearly stated the members will vote on this proposal.

I can't find the wording anywhere but on FB pages they are saying a vote will be for the association or no union,
I can't see that happening, I say no to the association!

If it is under the NMB guidelines you have more choices.
No union is a choice and a Fill In should also be a choice.
TWU and IAM respectively depending who gets the ballot should be on the ballot.
