Transport Workers and Machinist Union to Jointly Represent Ground Workers at the "New" American Airl

According to NMB rules you can not have two unions on the floor representing the same group with the same CBA. Who enforces the CBA? IAM or TWU?
When we become single carrier status you have to have one CBA. So how can two unions enforce one group and one CBA?

If neither of them had the balls to put it to a runoff then if anything they should have said "Ok, you take M&R and we will take Fleet".

Unions are supposed to unite workers of common interests not split them up.

My guess is that since they can no longer blame the Presidents council, and in two more years they wont be able to blame Tulsa, now they will blame the IAM. "Hey its not our fault the deal sucks, we would have fought for more but the IAM guys didnt want to fight" (and the IAM will be telling their guys that the TWU guys didnt want to fight).

If they arent willing to fight for us (to get us) why should we believe they will fight "for us" (against the comapny, government etc)?

This is an insane, cowardly plan. What it comes down to is the leaders of both these organizations realize that they have done such a lousy job representing their members that if they put it to a vote there is a good chance both would lose. Clearly this isnt about the members, its about the dues.

Awesome, no accountability, they will probably vote themselves a pay raise too, sense they are representing so many members that don't get to vote about anything that we are forced to pay for.
 
I would be willing to bet that this announcement will only help the current AMFA drive at AA and will also help the future election after they merge. Now it will only be fitting that AMFA wins the election at AA, and then win again after the merger and again against the TWU. It's now up to the AA mechanics to get this ball rolling, let's get AMFA to represent the entire M&R at the new AA. This would be very good to happen to the 3 industrial unions who are now all known for doing "BEHING CLOSE DOOR" deals. Desperation has now set in for them all, and all do to them trying to fight off the AMFA "snow-ball" affect. Gotta love this stuff...

After all this bickering back and forth between unions it is safe to say that the Teamsters drive at AA is DEAD! Now the guys at USAir have to fight them off as well. If this is not another MAJOR reason to sign an AMFA card and get them on the property at AA and USAir post merger then we all deserve what we get. If this foolishness between the TWU and IAM manages to fend off any AMFA drive by changing the rules then I am out of here. I had enough. I am seriously considering going hand pay and maybe not pay at all. What can they do? Fire me? Who cares I could care less at this point unless we get AMFA on the property.
