PHX F/A Scared of What?

This is very true..........folks in the West have little to worry about (sure as well Will Not be some mass migration to the desert) since it costs BIG BUCKS to move across the country when the employee has to foot the bill. Even if tranfers opened up the number of people that have their eyes on PHX are limited.....don't let Union bs/propaganda scare you into believing otherwise.

This is true and not true in the same sense - prople that were hired before May 2001 have nothing to worry about but the people after that need to be concerned - If they do not allow invols to come over and accrue longevity at their pay then after the seniority lists are merged ALL of the invols will be allowed to come back and the MOST JUNIOR one is may 2001, so yes their should be some concern and yes you should talk to your union president because there can and will be a bump and flush unless they get the ball rolling VERY fast!!!

Seniority is a bedrock part of a unions existence. When HP workers voted to join a union they choose to follow union rules. Seniority will win the day not because it is the best, or because US is larger, or because of a company conspiracy. Seniority by date of hire will be the end result because in a way they made seniority a workplace principle long before the merger.

This is true - hopefully it all goes well, b/c there will be alot of unhappy campers in PHX getting a furlough letter in about a year otherwise...

I have to say, you folks in PHX have a very Nice F/A Crew Room!! My crew and I had the pleasure of going up there last week, we were very welcomed by all of our new colleagues that we met, and had some very good conversations about east/west sides. Thanks to all!! I'm looking forward to relaxing up there again soon. Oh, and you have FREE Coffee in your lounge too!! A very Class Act! Unlike the He@@ Hole we have in Philthydelphia!!

Merry Christmas To All!!

I think we'll find the US West very nice, warm and kind. This has been my impression so far. I am really looking forward to meeting more of them.

In the past I've commuted on AWA and they were all so nice and sweet! I think AWA did a great job in hiring very professional people. I've never had a bad experience yet, nonreving or full ticket. I am so looking forward to working with the fine people from AWA. They are definately an asset to our operation!

In the New Year, I see only good things! It's a whole new corporate culture and one I embrace fully!

Kudos to all my new fellow workers! You rock!

THey don't give you free coffee in your crew lounges???

What about a TV and VCR with video collection?
I haven't checked out your crew lounges yet since I have been doing west coast overnights lately, but looking forward to checking them out.

I think the VCR and videos in our crew lounge was donated by another flight attendant.Anyway, Happy HOlidays.

You folks in the West obviously haven't listened to what the working conditions were in the EAST.........free coffee? a working tv? video collection? More often than not you were lucky to find a day(s) old newspaper, mustard/ketchup/soy sauce packets and saltine crackers left behind by another coworker. If you know anything about history think Stalin and ruling with an Iron Fist.

Just a quick FYI. As it stands right now, the East furloughed FAs may be offered training with West, but currently there is no agreement that the furloghed FAs must be offered the training.

While we are operating under two certificates, HP can hire anyone. HP will be talking to the trainees for the last cancelled class. HP will be advertising and hiring off the street.

What will happen at the final merger? Don't really know, except I have heard from the Corp. office that the company will not furlough one person to bring back another.

Where did you hear this? The unions are still hashing that out.

This post just goes to show that you obviously have no clue as to what you are saying - the company doesnt control that - when the lists are merged and if there is no transition agreement then yes there can and will be furloughs mainly in phoenix... Corporate does not control that my friend it is your seniority number that in fact will do the controlling and like i said on the other other posting ask your international pres. if you doubt me... it is strictly DOH now with no transition agreement unless the unions get it hashed out very quickly... If there is a transition agreement then it will be to bring back the invols and just so you know they wont put invols in a class with people off the street, simply because we will be bumped back up to our seniority after the merged lists.. In that situation no-one will be bumped - if not then it will be a so long fare-well and just to reinforce the company has NOTHING to do with that!! Afterall we are trained on all aircraft already and i would think it would be an accelarated class - hell we are trained on aircraft AWA doesn't even have... I am sure it will be a breeze - The only thing that would be weird to some people is I would be junior to them one month and then be 4 years senior to them the next - I guess I will be a senior mama out in phoenix - AHHH the life of a line - it will be nice - In this case I am glad I got furloughed... For those idiots listening to what the "company" says - pull your head out of your arse and get educated on the situation.

Well, the classes start March 6. It generally takes 60 days to get someone hired for the FA position. There was a meeting with HR yesterday about having open houses and interviews.

What the unions are hashing out is "if" the furloughed US people came over, how it would be handled. The union really doesn't have any control over who is hired etc.

Currently we are scheduled for 9- new hire classes. We know that not all furloughed FAs will want to attend the training etc., move to PHX etc. And until the unions come up with a solution that they want to offer to the company, the company has to go ahead and hire the people they need.

We have already postponed these classes from January, in hopes that a solution could be found. Unfortunatly we can't wait any longer or it will affect the operation starting in June. Remember our training is currently 7 weeks long.

As for the people who's class was cancelled a year ago, the company will be notifying them of the classes and seeing if they are still interested.

Hello goodgirl37. As for the training, there is no "reduced" training. The FAA requires that every FA that is new to a company attend an initial/new hire training. We have had many furloughed FAs from US already come through training. It is like quitting at one airline and starting at another. The FAA requires you attend all of the training.

I would recommend that you actually speak to your union reps. They will tell you that the only thing they have influence on-pertaining to new hire- are suggestions. Corp. wanted the furloughed FAs to be able to come over, but, so far an agreement that is fair to everyone has not come to fruition yet.

LOL - hello they can expedite training - all you have to know is emergency procedures and commands and that is all you have to teach - I learned the dc-9, md-80, f-100, 737 300-400, 757, 767, 319, 320, 321, 330 in six weeks pronto and i could bet they will expedite it b/c we will be getting paid for the training and they will not want to pay people for 7 weeks when they could get away with paying them for 3 or 4 ... If they want to pay me for seven to teach me to serve a coke feel free I will gladly take the money for something i already know LOL!!!
