mweiss states: Really? So, if it's not the market and business, what is it?
Mwiess,
It a strategic, well-thought out plan to bust unions from here to kingdom.
come.
And if you scratch this premise as just a rediculous "conspiracy theory", then what happened and is happening at U should not occur to the rest of the industries in the market place that has unions.
I wrote out two years ago to management the "Domino Effect" that what happens here at U will happen to United, American, Delta, NW, CO, and permeate to other industreis. Well, 3 months after I wrote it, United went into BK with the exact same plan, new CEO, threat of liquidation etc, then American and Delta burned through their cash, AA threatened BK, and still does. Delta is screaming as well and NW. I wrote this out in Feb. of 2003 called the "Domino Effect" on these boards and wrote it out before than to another group of union leaders and managment in Sept. of 2002.
Look at other unions like Verizon, and those unionized workers who start approaching their amendable contract dates.
All companies will attempt to rid themselves of the liabilities of defined pensions any way they can specifically with unionized groups. Why? Because they now can. They know the psyche of unionized workers and know you can do much by threatening their jobs and BK threats.
Don't forget, we have a Republican admin. House and Senate. They love when labor is at their knees, because corporation raiders and the wealthy can sieze the moment to become more wealthy on the American workers back.
And this is the climate set-up to do it.
