"International Association Of Machinists And Aerospace Workers, IAM Union, Boysen Anderson Breach of Contract, Lack of Representation, Lost Wages, Mass Layoff, Upper Marlboro Maryland"

"I was a truck driver for 8 years with a company called Auto truck Transport. Auto Truck belongs to a monopoly called JHT Holdings which is responsible for 95% of the nations new truck delivery. In the beginning of 07, rumor had it that we were being bought out by another company called Unimark Transport.

None of us were told this by the Union or the Company, it all came from fellow drivers. When the Union heard that we knew about it, an "invisible" contract was provided to our "company" terminal manager to basically give us options."

"When the (IAM) Automotive director finally made it to our workplace, I was given a half hour of their time to present the case and later was told it was Industry Standard and to go find another job. After the meeting, the union reps left to go eat with company representatives! End of Story ..."

So much for union representation!

I am a member of IAM Union. Recently we at Southwest Airlines
Resolved Question:
I am a member of IAM Union. Recently we at Southwest Airlines ratified our contract 52% to 48%. I want a break down of the votes ...by station, yes/no, and absentee votes. IAM will not release this information. I have requested the information in writing and the Kansas City office is aware of my request. All is ignored and hoping I will go away. Also, in my 14 years at SWA this union has NEVER released voting information. Is it not a right we have?

Why would the IAM withhold information from it's members?

Of course not! Unions would never use fear tactics to get their hands in your pockets!

They don't.

But just for fun, what station was this employee in?

What local? "Kansas City office" doesn't cut it.

What did her shop steward say when asked?

How 'bout the local lodge officers?

How do we know this isn't more work from "union avoidance" shadow men? Real easy to put something on Just Answer, and boost it's SEO...

Critical thinking goes a long way, South...

FWIW, WN was in the same local I was in at my last station. Voting results and other relevant items were always openly shared.

Peter List is involved with Red State, too. I'm sure he appreciates all the help you're giving him today...

You been on your former benefactor's website lately? It's all fear mongering. Start with the IFS page.

Have a good time.

You do know contractual votes are posted on IAM bulletin boards and all balloting is available for view to any member.

Well, maybe you don't know since you obviously have no capability of critical thinking.

What is Delta's history of outsourcing of ramp work?

Before the merger with Northwest Airlines, Delta had their own ramp employees at only 15 stations. All other stations were outsourced. Northwest Airlines employed their own ramp workers in 40 stations. They were prevented from outsourcing any of these because of the union contract. Once Delta and Northwest became one carrier Delta brought all ramp work in Northwest union stations back in house.

Delta did not outsource all ramp work in the former Northwest stations because that would have provided too big a target for union supporters. In addition, because of Ready Reserve, Delta could operate these stations very cheaply.

Bottom line? Without the legal protection provided by a union contract, any part of Delta's operation can be outsourced at any time

Only two more with indefinite protection-DEN and LAX. The IAM screwed up big time but you will never admit it. Who knows maybe they are seeking AS type scope to also outsource HUBS!
