I have to ask you a question. What do you expect them to say? Its like buying a house or car. The salesman is not going to tell you "Here is my offer but if you don't like it we can talk some more." You would automatically turn it down because you know you can get a better deal. They are not going to show their hand in that way. This is exactly the kind of negotiations we are dealing with.

Had--

Yes, in normal economic times I would you with you 100%. Howver, they are predicting huge losses this year and I don't see oil going down anytime soon.

(I know ppl keep wanting to talk about our billion dollar reserves.....yea,yea,yea....to me reserves means they are reserving it for the pilots and mechanics :D , historically it has never got spent on Fleet.)

Furthermore, those reserves will be eaten up quick in these conditions. I just don't think we have a strong hand this time.

if what you say is true about bad economics times for the company why would they want to give extra money to a fleet service group that is already under contract.

Ask yourself a few more questions if you would. Why do you think they came to us in the first place? They didn't have to do so. Could they have not just had the west vote on our contract? Would it have not been a lot less costly to do so?

.

To bring the east & west together...probably for merger purposes.

if that is the case then they can offer a better deal.they dont need east and west together to merge but it sure makes them more attractive to potential buyers or investors.

Been on the sidelines reading these very informative posts since early last year, and after much consideration and thorough analysis ( especially of tim nelson's (who is not necessarily a US Airways employee) very indepth posts) it becomes quite clear that the only course of action for the good of all us union brothers and sisters is to vote yes to this TA and unify the unionhood under a single contract that will improve the working conditions for all. A huge gargantuan yes vote here and from well over 50% of the membership that I have had contact with so far. Very good.

Right, they need a contract so when they are under fire from the politicians, having 3 seperate work groups won't be one of the obsticles they won't have to explain away.

We must make SURE that West doesn't get thrown into EAST when the TA is voted down, because it takes away more leverage in further negotiations!

Anybody? Ask yourself these questions and share your answers.

My take is this

Company gets the members to accept a fools contract

Company mergers with another

Layoffs happen due to restructioning of hubs and out stations

Your measly wage increase does you no good your outta of a job

Been there done that

Never again

PS Philly is becoming a huge NO vote

I have to say this: if United, a unionized airline, SWA another heavily unionized airline, have bigger pay for their fleet service. then US can offer something similar Also they both have COC in their contract there is no excuse for CanaryBird and Hammerhead to give Fleet their COC and even better pay and benefits in US Fleet Contract
