I.A.M VS I.B.T

You don't have a choice on the accretion, if your job functions are covered under the US/East IAM CBA you will be under the contract.

Engineers and anyone in engineering are not under the CBA.
I know about not having a choice.......that was sarcasm. And as I have mentioned before, the organization of departments and the like are NOT the same as on the old US Airways side so..........the determination has not been made by the company as to where certain groups will end up. But based on the definitions in the IAM contract and the previous NMB rulings on "similar" duties, etc........who knows at this point.

If the NMB issues a favorable ruling for the IAM then the IAM could rightfully be called a "Company" union since the company clearly has indicated a preference in working with IAM. Does this bode well for workers? No idea but a point to ponder as you attack each other.

Good points Bob. My thinking is the company definetly wants the IAM. Why? 500 million in concessions from bankruptcy #2. It's simpiler and cheaper if the IAM contract survives in the short-term. IF the company was planning for the long-term health of the company they would show good faith and voluntarily come to the negotiating table and "beef up" parts of the exisiting IAM contract. Perhaps vacation time, 401K, etc. The mechanics on both sides seem pretty bitter, and bitter folks are not as productive as happy folks.Showing a little good faith will go a long, long way to healing wounds and getting on with the merger.

Some words for thought, take from an article in the AZ Republic yesterday. Too good to not post again.

There is only one way to be free, and that is to defend the right of the scoundrel you disagree with 100 percent to be as free as you are. Once you restrict the rights of others, you restrict your own.

But remember EricLv2Fish, the IBT is continuing with contract negotiations to this day. The only thing that will change the IAM contract, if it's the surviving contract, would be a transition agreement and yes, hopefully, a transition agreement would improve upon that contract. And as a terrible view......it's not just the mechanics and related.........it's every unionized group that are unhappy and bitter. IMO, the starting point for good faith is for the employees to come together and work together in the face of the company.......and MAYBE then, the positive will shine.

You dont know that.

There will be transition negotiations so none of you lose anything.

Don't let the facts get in your way.

How many mergers have you been through?

I have been through three and never lost anything.

and what would the IAM give the company to get the ibt ben. package I know what the company would want. so go ibt you won't give anything to the company because our contract has been expired for over 2 years. why wait till past 2010 at least most likly longer with this mngt.

I smell ignorance and stupidy, oh look awa just posted.

Don't worry there 700 what I've heard is that sence all the stores clerks are a different job class at all other airlines and that is due to the nmb they are the same people that told the ibt at awa they were not the same class so it looks like you will keep you iam contract for the stores clerks but you won't be riding any coat tails in the future. hey while your at it send some seat covers out to phx for your planes your crew seem to think you stock them here.

Contracts under the RLA do not expire, they become amendable.

Your ibt contract will be gone no matter what, the IAM/US CBA will be the survivor even if there is an election and the ibt wins.

In 1949 it was certified as mechanic, utility and stores.

Sorry customer service needs to take care of that since it is not a mtc station.

QUOTE """I'd like for someone to list all the reasons why I.B.T. is better for me and my family. Not 5 reasons but 25.

I'd also like someone to list 25 reasons why the I.A.M. is better."""

A union is what it members make it. Union leaders do things you don't like if you let them.

You need to think of 25 things your union should be and work to make it happen no matter which 3 letters define your union.

Both unions have the right first letter "I".

Bashing each other on which group screwed more in the past must stop.

The IAM didn't fail anyone it's membership failed themselves.
The IBT membership is no better they havn't made their union what it should be either and has never been tested. "all grievences settled on a case by case non presidence basis"

FOR THE IBT. The link to this is at the bottom of the page you can read what the IBT can DO FOR YOU. Go to the link and you can read each TA'ed item.
