787nightmare you hated it at aa in tule you hated at boeing. Thats why I suggested some away from planes. No I don't know what you have been going through your past 22 years, but you sound like a lot of guys at AA #### #### and if they every do finally leave they are bitching again about trying to get back to AA
what kind of job at AA are you looking for anyway
Bob not really seeing the shortage of A&P in ord from my point of view anyway
Paul1 and Duke...not that I owe either of guys any kind of an explanation, but.. would either of you guys-as a mech- enjoy working as a Scheduler in TULE?
I didn't think so...I don't know where either of you two wk, but I can tell you...any mech in TULE KNOWS the workload/pace of sch in that place!
I left a charter carrier as a traveling mech-took the AA sch job there back in 07, with the hope(and mistakenly convinced "most" mechs were recalled- by an AA mech/friend of mine at TAESL-and frankly, I was tired running my a$$ off traveling)-of getting back to my toolbox within a "reasonable" amount of time at AA. As I began talking with Leads and mechs I became friends with...it became clear I'd made a big mistake("what did I get myself into?"), was told wrong(also was amazed at the workload of a PCtl sch in TULE-unbelievable). I also found out that AA was doing more with less-with there Schedulers. AA used to have a sch on every dock out there. Now we were given 2 and 3 docks to cover by ourselves(sometimes on call for another hangar too!) That job sucked the big one and I had to get out of there fast. All for a whopping 48k annual sal. You guys wouold HATE it too. So, don't tell me about so called "hate this, hate that BS"...
The Boeing thing happened fast. I saw it as a real opportunity to get my career back on track and with a real company. They were taking pulses, hiring so fast and furious for the 787 prog. I also figured I could get further south in a reasonable timeframe(they're sitting on 787 ppl-no moves)And were we in for a big surprise when we all got to Everett.
I tell everybody I know, if I hadn't been there to see it myself, I never would've believed a company that's built aircraft for almost a century, could screw something up SO bad. Everything you've read/heard about the 787 problems, well, lets just say it's worse. Every ex-airline I guy I've met(& there are MANY) absolutely HATES the place(and are all waiting-like me- for a decent opp to get out of there-many have quit and moved on). The place is SO "not real world"& drives an airline guy crazy...zero job ownership, satisfaction and accountability. I've talked to an AA rep up there at Boeing fld, and he concurs w/ everything I've mentioned. He can't believe it either. It's unbelievable and you guys would NOT believe your eyes if you were to come up here for a week and walk in my shoes.
I was told by a good guy in TULE before I left AA..."I would
never work for that company again"(he wkd for Boe EVT flt line back in the late 80s before he came to AA) I couldn't imagine what he was talking about(like you guys)
I now know what he meant! And he worked the legacy lines-not the botched exp called 787 nightmare!
I withstood the temptation of going back to NWA when they were on on strike-when i needed a job desperately-when I knew good and well I'd be received with open arms back in DTW where I wkd the line and knew Mgrs. Even when I'd been beaten down/shattered by a wrongful termination at FedEx(wking for hardlining Mgr-whos no longer at FX-they showed him the door)Yes...I talked with attorneys...they offered there condolences & said Okla's a right to wk state and an emplyr can term your emp for wrong color socks basically, filed a BK to keep from losing my house after being served eviction papers(or pay up), lost my g/mother, my mother 2 wks later, endured
unbelievable stress, rejection, frustration over the top-couldn't buy a job...nearly lost my marriage......I kid you not..I was ready to go postal...and you guys think I'M a whiner??!! No...I've just been out here, while you guys have been INSIDE of AA all this time. It's a tough world out here since 9/11 lemme tell ya. You guys oughta be around some exEAL guys I've met/wkd with. They'll bite your head off in NY second. I'll tell ya what though...they're the most pro-union guys(dam good mechs too-most) you can wk with, and like me, WILL NOT cross a line-...
I've been through the acid test. How would you boys do? You never know until you've been where I've been-and others like me. It's hell. You can count on me to not cross the line should I get in and we strike...how about you??
So don't sit there in front of your PCs at home and run me down about my attitude and how I'm a whiner. I call it like I see it...and I think I'm qualified to call it. I ain't looking for no sympathy from anybody. All I want to do is get my airline career back on track and retire about 15 yrs from now. It will be SO liberating to get back to an airline, get my career back on track. Oh yeah...and help the AA mechs get rid of the worthless cancer known as the TWU that's
supposed to be representing them.
Thx MCI...partner I know as much as anyone AAs not a perfect place. But at least I'll get my airline career back on track and finish my 15 yrs or so living in an area down south where I want to live! cause I'm NOT staying with the lazy B up here. Thx Bob, Ken, MCI, jetfixer and you other guys that have corrresponded with me.
I appreciate your info and encouragement.
