Do You Think Flight Attendants Will Sickout Nov 28

I don't believe that. I think most are preparing for a career outside of aviation.

Tank up the car kiddies it's gonna be a long drive. I'd rather drive 800 miles than be stuck in an airport - flight cancelled- with screaming kids. This is why Jack Daniels makes a great gift for your flying friends and family. ;)

You are so right! I thought the exact same thing. This holiday season I would stay as far away from US as possible. Sad we're going to lose business , but what else do you do, just stand there and take it? This company has been after all of us for years and now they are finally going to get what they wanted to do ages ago---wipe out the contracts. If it weren't for CWA I'd hate to think where we'd be right now. It would be more like $5.15 an hour.

Remember the AA Pilot sick-out that that company sued the union over and was awarded 45 million dolloars?

BTW, it was discussed on a message board like this one and turned into the judge...

Jimntx,

Many here at US Airways think they are the only ones going through this...they are sadly mistaken.

And other industries are going through it too....

Evidently, you missed the news about the concessions the f/as gave AMR last year. Top of scale is now less than $50/hr. On a basic 75 hour month that would be $45000/yr. Now if you count the expense money (which in some cases is taxable), and purser pay, and speaker pay, you might be able to goose it up to $55,000, but that ain't da usual.

Working environment got better??? You mean like the Miami-Sao Paulo trip that used to be 36-hour layovers in Sao Paulo, and is now a 12-hour layover? Arrive at 7am, depart for Miami at 7pm same day? Oh, that "better working environment." I wasn't sure which one you were talking about at first.

Mr. Lakefi**d, I like your screen name "UseyourHEAD"....

You obviously use your HEAD contantly......You must have your HANDS full.... with all those union busting plans....

Res,

I do not not have to be Mr. Lakefield to have any kind of understanding of business, and the position we find ourselves in.

I hate this for us :-(

If we are to stay in business, we must make these painful changes, our competitors already operate in these ways, we are attempting to emulate them.

I am just an employee like you....

I think we need a substanital, industrywide wild card strike. Government intervention is needed NOW. We need regulation again, or the situation will grow worse. We have two loser Presidential candidates - Bush who loves executives and the rich and Kerry who hates the airlines (I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER vote for a a PIECE OF SH1T like him that publicly stated he wanted to see US Airways fail. Any of you that think he's a good candidate need to pull your head out of the John.)

The government is letting the airlines massacre employees, leaving their carcasses rotting the streets of destition. Millions of us are still unemployed and underemployed. While execs are still making enormous, perk-laden salaries. We need IMMEDIATE rehire of all laid off employees at their prior level of pay and seniority. We DEMAND that the airlines cease cutting service to small cities. We INSIST that the dangerous and deadly practice of hiring out maintenance to vendors BE STOPPED immediately. The TIME HAS COME for unions to stop coddling the executives and representing their workers. THEY MUST MAKE IT CLEAR THAT WE WILL NOT WORK FOR LESS, WE WILL NOT BE LAID OFF AND TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN THE COLLAPSE OF AMERICA'S AVIATION INFRASTRUCTURE!!!!!!

well said Comrade!

Everyone has their own set of limits to which they will sell their "services" to the company. For some, any job is better than no job. For others, there's lots of opportunities outside this industy. They are the one's willing to move on. That includes myself. That is the reason the company should offer some type of buy out to allow those that wish to leave and persue other things, the chance the leave with something after giving many years of their lives to this company, only to see promises broken, time and again. I refuse to lower my self worth to what this company wants, and have made plans to leave, but others should be offered a choice. If the company can pay Al Crelin over a million so far this year, they can spare a few pesos for us.....

UYH,

Why don't you approach the company and let them outsource all mainline flying, we need to do this to save all the non-pilots jobs.

Hate it for you but we got to save the company.

Big tough talk. The only one's ultimately hurt will be the valued customers. A few have some loyalty to the USAirways brand. Most don't and they will be happy to vote with their feet and take their dollars elsewhere. Last time I was in PHL I saw lots of Orange and Blue 737's that are happily flying many former U customers. Air Tran on the "D" Concourse too.

The only thing a "sickout" or other job action will accomplish is to hasten the final demise of USAirways. Senior management, the architects of the Draconian concessions you are hoping to avert, will not be impressed. They are on a mission.
And they will still be rich at the end of the day, and you won't.

With comments about possible strikes on the boards now, I was wondering if anybody thought the flight attendants might have a "sick-out" on Sunday, November 28th?... I think that is a pretty busy travel day?

What do you think?
[post="195728"][/post]

Thanks to Dr.Bronner's comments back in Aug about possible liquidation by Feb, our Thanksgivimg bookings are dismal. Out of LGA the WED before we only have 3 flts right now over and only ny a couple. The Sunday after ( Black Sunday ) only 1 !

A sick out. What a novel idea. That'll really show them.

It'll also show your customers, the ones who have stood by you and booked tickets while believing in you, that you really don't care. So, your sick out could end up being a permanent leave.

Please do us all a favor and just quit if this is your attitude. Don't ruin it for the other 20+ thousand employees who also depend on a paycheck, no matter how small, to survive.

I dont have to quit....the company's proposal dosent include me....i'll just wait for them to tell me not to come in anymore, that they gave my job to a mexican for a third of my pay. But if i can take the rest of the company down with me....so be it.

It was $25 million and then after screwing over all the other unions, they forgave the debt; so APA didn't have to pay it.
