Do You Think Flight Attendants Will Sickout Nov 28

Last night we had a part-time ramper who was temporarily upgraded to full-time walk off the job. Why you ask? This was the result of a very poor business move. Cutting the pay of everyone, regardless of hourly rate 21%. He was making $7.80/hour after the pay cut. He got his first check on Friday. He asked local managment if he could go back to part-time so he could work his other job to make ends meet. "Nope...sorry". Well here is a perfect example of how a poor business move ends up hurting more in the end. The result now will be more overtime (no money saved there) if they can even find anyone to work it. I can't see getting someone hired, background checked, and trained before Christmas. Folks, there is a lot more of this to come before Christmas. You can't blame him one bit. He would make more at any fast food restaurant. They should not have cut 21%....let alone someone who made so little.

Seems to me at the end of the month there are usually flights that have to cancel due to lack of crew availability, without the labor strife...

A sick out. What a novel idea. That'll really show them.

It'll also show your customers, the ones who have stood by you and booked tickets while believing in you, that you really don't care. So, your sick out could end up being a permanent leave.

Please do us all a favor and just quit if this is your attitude. Don't ruin it for the other 20+ thousand employees who also depend on a paycheck, no matter how small, to survive.

Yes, the working conditions 5uck. That's been debated through and through. And, for your information, the government already does regulate your rights as an employee and an employers rights. What, specifically, are you asking them to do for YOU that wouldn't trickle down to the rest of America's workforce? It sounds like what you're really asking for is an overhaul of all work rules for all companies. Because - why should the government treat an airline worker any different than someone who has an office job, or another person who cleans toilets and mops floors?

I don't think an alleged sickout or the Judge at this point is even an issue as opposed to the issue of alot of employees may in fact want closure for financial reasons. If so, then how a worker may or may not bring closure about is anyone's opinion. IMO, the workers who I have spoke with aren't planning any sick out so any talk of sickout may be manufactured on this board. I haven't spoken with any F/A;s though.

What does it matter what the judge wants or does if 28,000 employees want closure as opposed to working for the wages that US AIRWAYS deems fair in context? Personally I can't see many workers thinking about the judge at this point since US AIRWAYS financial situation thickens the view towards him. Closure can certainly come without a sickout if Closure is in fact what a good chunk of US AIRWAYS workers want. Again, I presume any attitude isn't necessarily about 'showing them!' but rather logical thinking if one's option is governmental sponsored unemployment benefits as opposed to quitting and getting $0. ALso, IMO, many workers at US AIRWAYS have already decided what is best for them since they can now read the handwriting on the wall.

In any case, calling state offices and reviewing unemployment benefits is a reasonable chore.

Hey Useyour head...... We should not be trying to emulate America West and Jetblue, we should be trying to emulate Southwest. Afterall they made the most money (jetblue made very little and AmWest lost money).....

Oh, thats right Southwest pays a decent wage and requires competant management to make the profit. So Walmart Wages it is then!

Glad to see once again you go to the Airline Experts and the volumes of knowledge that you have about the industry to post false information once again.

All the legacy carries made more then US before the 21%, now US is the lowest paid in the industry.

A little investigation by you would have shown you that.

You know maybe you wouldn't be so arrogant

Who the heck are you to call someone arrogant. Your house must be without mirrors.

I don't give a fat rat's arse about your statistics.

That's pretty obvious, Bob. But it begs the question, what (or who) do you care about in this situation?

Sicking out on the 28th will cause customer service agents and our customers a lot of grief. Why do they deserve this?????????????????????

There is no "sick out" initiative.

Our employees are professional.

Our war is NOT with the customer; U employees care for the customer and want their business.

I don't give a fat rat's arse about your statistics. I was pointing out what the perception was from a different source. This lady who worked the ticket counter and gate in Peoria worked for Air Wisconsin and she was of the impression that despite the cuts she would make MORE working for Airways.

Yep shows your true colors once again, you are proven wrong and you can't even admit it.

Let me tell you something you are not an employee and you are not living it, so your opinion does not matter anyhow.

And I suggest you go to the facts instead of asking an air wiskie employee about the US' payscale.
