Amfa Vs. Twu Debate

Absolutely, each and every person matters. Keep in mind my opinion is just that, but at MCIE I have talked to A LOT of mechs that state they signed a card to send a message to the TWU, not to AMFA.

Dave, I met you and Gary and Dan at KC, you all are genuine in your beliefs, I do not take that away from you. We simply do not agree, whether it is from your history and the lack of mine I do not know. I stand behind my local. currently it is the TWU. There are items of AMFA I do not agree with and items of the TWU you do not agree with. I just hope if this would come to a vote, and AMFA loses, that you and others , along with myself, find a way to make OUR UNION stronger against the company that truely is the catalyst of our losses.

What if AMFA wins Steve what will you do then get behind AMFA and make our new union stronger ?

Fair enough. Now back to our disagreements.

You guys all readily admit to no history with the TWU. But you won't listen to those that have a history. If nothing esle, you should have learned that concessions do not dig you out of mis-managed company.

You guys have wealth of knowledge in that arena, yet very few of you share the truth, because it will look bad on your Local and your Union. What happened to truth and survival is what matters? Loyal allegiance got your tongue?

Funny thing, the NWA/AMFA recipe has left both the union members and the company in a better position for the future than our concessions for jobs have left us.

Raptor, to be honest , it will take a WHOLE lot of time for me to back anything that has AMFA as a nameplate. More than likely, I will, as you and others, count the days before I launch a new vote. Is this right? Probably not. Due to the fact that the company wins and we as the membership lose. I do not see a resolution. Some see the AFL-CIO as being stagnant, I see it as a neccessity.

Better position, c'mon now. 50% of the members still employed?

Go tell that to Eastern, Pan-Am, Braniff, USAir, United, PATCO, TWU ZEBCO, the STEELWORKERS and the rest of the I love the AFL-CIO screwed work groups.

I guess you have answered your own question Steve as to wether we will get behind the TWU if AMFA loses. ;)

Arbitration Decisions coming soon enough.

You still have not given us a number of TWA unemployed since AA/TWU took over your lives? Percentage would be fine if you do not have an exact number. Why don't you hold the TWU to the same standard you hold AMFA at NWA?

Steve both sides have laid off employee's that is the one thing that AMFA and the TWU both have in common. cmon man don't you see that.
in fact it is the one thing that all unions and Aviation Company's have in common.

Personally I think the TWU Leadership and American share the same bed it is kind of a simbiotic relationship it is the members that lose, not the TWU as an organization or American, nor do the Leaders of each lose. :(

We have a division of the house. American must love it.
Yep, the division began in 1983 called the B-scale.

American loves that division, and they love the TWU.

Steve you only have a couple of years experience with AMFA and the TWU some of us have 17 years with the TWU, after awhile the BS gets real old and this concession for some of us was just the last straw.

I am willing to give a new Union a try at this point, I don't see that there is anything to lose, if it doesn't work out well then, I guess we can say we gave them a try just as we have done with the TWU for 57 years, but for many the TWUs chances are over.

I guess you would have to be here for more than a couple of years to understand it. :D
