Maybe not imbecile, however if Nitro has not heard the information concerning AMFA before, then he was probably a little brainwashed by the TWU.

I have seen and heard all the AMFA info, been to the meetings. Been there and got the shirt ! Seen the card drive in action...yea, yea brother we have the cards. We are filing today. I will give you this, it all sounds good but what will the employment numbers be for the AMT's? Outside of AA it doesnt look too good.

Nitro,
The numbers look about as good at Southwest as they do at the other carriers.
We are headed there too don't you think?

I apologize, in meetings today. If I were just starting out I admit I would go with SWA ! However, lets look closely at the numbers SWA 1900 AMT's, AA 9000 AMT's. Im just saying. On the call backs, If we are stuck with a 5 year call back we wont see the inside of these hangars again. Need a 10 year call back.

Pffttt....why in hell would you even want to come back to that place after furlough?! Move on to better things. :-/ There IS life after AA people, trust me.

Btw....I've been given the word, if you are willing to relo(& they have a nice relo pkg for you), Boeing is looking for another 100+ AMTs for WA.
Min 25.75 start-6 yr top @ appx $43/hr. Appx 3 1/2 yrs left on the extended contract ratif in Dec.

Be forewarned......manufacturing and the SEA 6-7 mo "gray season" isn't for everyone. It's also very liberal & costly. Typical west coast, but not as bad as Calif. But next to working for UP, FX or WN-prob the next best in line as far as compensation.

YES anyone with recall rights will be included in the craft or class.
Your card will count and you will get a ballot.
Thanks!!!!!

If one wasn't called back within the 5 years, I hope they have gotten a better career somewhere else and wouldn't want to come back. Didn't a lot of AMT's tell AA "NO WAY" during the last recall?

AMFA IAM TWU WFT - the fact is Unions have to strap on a pair in this country. Or there won't be any unions in aviation in the future.
If you mean the members of the unions Barfbag then I agree. The unions themselves will not make any waves. They are paying exectutive salaries to their officers (and secretaries) as well as getting regular raises while the people they represent get taken to the cleaners. The time to make a statement is now. How can anyone be satisfied with the results we have gotten from the TWU? I have been here for going on 27 years. Tried getting involved to make changes happen and it didn't work. I and others were singled out (The Tulsa 15). The local officers turned the members against us using lies and padding votes on motions (remember the first vote on separate negotiations?). These people will stop at nothing to keep the money coming in and that includes selling the membership out in 84, 89, 95 and 2003. Remember how Little said he'd fight like hell? Do you call the deal he tried to sell us fighting? Kick him and his overpaid secretary out the door and let's get some representation that will not sign secret letters of agreement and keep details such as an exective retirement account that is protected from BK from us. Nitro, while you are enjoying your soda pop and pop corn at the union hall, listen to what is being said by your leadership. That is if they are showing their faces these days. From all I know, Sam is still in his bunker in an undisclosed location. Keep voting no until you get a ballot to vote on union representation, then select anyone but TWU.

I was in the Paint and Fiberglass shop last night. I asked the Crew Chief if he thought his crew would be interested in signing an AMFA card and he stated that paraphrasing, no AMFA doesn't represent OSM's.

And on a side note, the Appearance Technicians at Southwest have ratified their contract.

Southwest Airlines announced Friday that its appearance techs approved a tentative agreement with the company. The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, which represents the group, said there were 237 members eligible to vote.

AMFA said that 172 members, or 83.5 percent of those who cast ballots, voted in favor of the deal, while 34, or 16.5 percent, voted against the agreement.

The contract becomes amendable in February 2017, replacing the previous contract that became amendable in February 2009.

Why wouldn't AMFA represent OSM's?

Wouldn't AMFA represent all Title 1 members?

I know SWAMT reads these posts so I will ask it here. Maybe someone else knows as well: What is an appearance Tech? I saw that on the AMFA website yesterday.

Appearance tech is a cleaner. They clean the interior. I think that in Dallas and Phoenix they also clean the exterior

So as of today that would be a combination of our aircraft cleaners and Fleet Service Clerks.

Had the M&R group passed the supplemental proposal from the company, it would've become OSM work and defiantly be Title 1.
