American looking to "right-size" the company and staffing levels for the Fall and 2021

He never had a point.

What he had was a canned response resulting from years of conditioning by UNION propaganda.

Again, it is the same old story, sacrificing pay and benefits for headcount. I think history has very clearly proven that tactic does not work. I mean seriously.... how many times does that have to fail before you guys learn?

There is absolutely no reason why anyone should not work overtime.

LALILELO

I HATE THE TWU, so its not yrs of union propaganda. Not same ole story either full pay til the last day, No cuts or give backs.

I HAVE WALKED A PICKET LINE DURING MY TIME IN THE INDUSTRY HOW MANY OF YOU CAN SAY THAT I BET NONE.

I HAVE WALKED AWAY FROM JOBS BECAUSE I WOULD NOT BEND TO THE WAYS THEY WANTED.

EVERYTHING NEGATIVE THAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR INDUSTRY STARTED HERE AT AA, SO WAVE YOUR POM POMS THAT AA IS #1
GET THE TWO SCOOPS FROM THE TOOL ROOM AND BEND OVER AND TAKE IT AGAIN. MAYBE IF AA CLOSES TULSA YOU WILL HAVE TO MOVE OR YOUR WIFE WILL HAVE TO COMMUTE.

Because as you read from the comments made here by others along with yourself, it seems I am the only one who cares if she stays on the job.

I will never give 2 s***s about those on layoffs and even less about any Union getting back their members from furlough to resume paying dues.
How wld u feel if someone told u the same thing if u were to be furloughed? I myself was furloughed 1 time. Now w this i personally hope it wont come to it but i expect it will n i expect it to be severe. I for one expect someone like w 23 yrs to be furloughed although some senior folks tell me ill be fine. I tell everyone to expect worst n hope for best.

You seem very confident you will be laid off Kev3188.

I’d be happy to be proven wrong, but I’m definitely operating on the assumption that I’ll be gone come the fall. I‘ve decided to just enjoy the ride until then.

If that happens, I might go back and get another degree- I’m also lucky that we’ve been saving for a long time and could weather being jobless for awhile if need be.

I feel sorry for you that you don't know any better, That you have the IGM attitude maybe when/if it comes time for something to happen to you, You will have someone who works with you & cares enough about you to stand up for YOU. But from what you write you truly have been TWU trained and you must of got an "A" in that class.

Those aircraft orders were already in place before AA went into BK. Those aircraft orders stayed in place and the financing was not altered. That was suspicious because the financing rates and agreements were immune to all the BK changes. We had our contracts changed, pensions frozen and so on. The largest commercial aircraft order in aviation history was untouched. Another example on the working man getting screwed and the powerless unions fighting big business and the BK courts losing out. Did we really need to lose the prefunding? How many more union members would have taken an early out if prefunding was left untouched like the aircraft orders? I would have strongly considered taking an early out knowing my medical was covered until the age of 65.
Bernie madoff went to jail becuase he stole from the rich. When you steal from the poor you just change the laws to make it legal

Sorry to hear that! I should have the seniority to hang on. Will i chase the job? Probably not ill game tge system if i can take the layoff collect severance then look at options

IT has nothing to do with the overtime money, we make a real good wage and since you're NOT a A&P mechanic you must of be a member of MGMT, definitely not a UNION GUY. Since we work at AA and have no other way of self help since strike and job actions are now illegal, the only thing we as a group can do to stick together is not work the O/T. It's up to each person and like you said his/hers financial situation. If you are living beyond your means that is on you. They can't white slip you if No-one signs up the work will then get turned over to the on coming shift. O/T is NOT mandatory. But what I see from the many comments here you guys are TWU trained.
But then again that is the way most here at AA think. IGM...

These is my opinion NOT AMFA Nationals or SWA or Alaska or any other AMFA represented carrier.
You don't know what the hell your talking about AMFAinMIAMI. You are just slinging mud.

I was UNION.

Local 514.

They shut my shop down because we were Title 3 (Fleet Service) at a Title 1 (Mechanics) controlled base and no one gave a crap about us and the 514 President (Sam Cirri) a Fleet Service Clerk and Debbie TIller, the Fleet Service chairman, were too busy cutting an under the table deal to save their own ass to represent our interest.

I paid a hell of a lot of money over the years to NOT get represented.

I support UNIONs but I do not support TWU because they sure as hell did not support me. Maybe things are different under AMFA. Maybe if I worked under AMFA I would have a different attitude.

When you have people you pay to represent you stab you in the back and worked in an environment where the majority of rank and file employees were either openly hostile or indifferent to your very existence. (most mechanics were either glad to see us go or could care less) then feel free to share your opinion about others living up to your UNION ideals.

One of the people in our shop attended a meeting at the local 514 UNION hall to air grievances about our shop being eliminated only to have another UNION member (a mechanic) tell him to sit down and shut his mouth while the rest of the membership applied peer pressure to censor and censure him. That is 514 representation. Does that sound like a UNION to you? You ever have a fellow UNION brother just totally shut you out at a UNION meeting?

Save your IGM speech and accusations. When you work under the same sorry circumstances I did for 12 years then feel free to comment. Until then save me the benefit of your know nothing judgemental comments about me living up to your UNION ideals.

Great? Why tell me? I have no love for them either.

I HAVE WALKED A PICKET LINE DURING MY TIME IN THE INDUSTRY HOW MANY OF YOU CAN SAY THAT I BET NONE.
You are right about that. I have never walked a picket line.

I HAVE WALKED AWAY FROM JOBS BECAUSE I WOULD NOT BEND TO THE WAYS THEY WANTED.
Big deal. I walked away from the whole industry.

EVERYTHING NEGATIVE THAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR INDUSTRY STARTED HERE AT AA, SO WAVE YOUR POM POMS THAT AA IS #1
What the hell are you talking about? Delving into the fantastic and the absurd are we?

GET THE TWO SCOOPS FROM THE TOOL ROOM AND BEND OVER AND TAKE IT AGAIN.
No one is taking anything. Again I walked away.

MAYBE IF AA CLOSES TULSA YOU WILL HAVE TO MOVE OR YOUR WIFE WILL HAVE TO COMMUTE.
I can promise you there is not a chance in hell of that happening. We are not going to chase AA.

Because as you read from the comments made here by others along with yourself, it seems I am the only one who cares if she stays on the job.
Well you are just a champion of the people aren't you?

AA is in a bad way financially. I rather them cut cost and her have a job to come back to when demand picks back up rather than the company maintain a high headcount of people they don't need and slowly bleed to death just to satisfy your agendas.

Are you done making a fool of yourself or should we continue this circus?

I must have missed AMFA advocating for a cut in pay and benefits. I will keep looking for that in the comments...
Your snarky comment aside I was not talking about AMFA. This thread is under the AMERICAN AIRLINES section, last time I checked no one at American Airlines is supported by AMFA.

AMFA may or may not have a history of advocating for a cut in pay and benefits to maintain headcount but the TWU certainly does. That is a fact.

I am happy to hear you have a degree. I am also happy to hear that you are considering pursuing another one.

I hope you don't get hit but I am happy you took steps to protect yourself.

Most people just freeze and wait for the axe to fall only to go into a panic when it actually happens.

That shows good judgement and planning on your part.

I will never give 2 s***s about those on layoffs and even less about any Union getting back their members from furlough to resume paying dues.
I would not go that far but I certainly would not turn down OT just to speed up recall. Again American Airlines is having serious problems right now. I rather they cut cost and keep the company from going under than recall people they don't need just to serve an agenda.

Great? Why tell me? I have no love for them either.

FOR THE SAME REASONS YOU SAID IN YOUR RANT, WE PAY THEM TO REPRESENT BUT THEY DON'T.

You are right about that. I have never walked a picket line.

SO YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT STANDING SIDE BY SIDE PUTTING YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE FOR THE GUYS YOU WORK WITH
JUST LIKE GIVING UP O/T TO PROVE A POINT, YOU WOULD RATHER WORK THE O/T AND LET SOMEONE ELSE FIGHT THE BATTLE AGAINST THE TWU/AA. THAT HAS ALSO BEEN A POINT OF MINE FOR YEARS THE TYPICAL AA GUY KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT BEING A TRUE UNION MEMBER. THAT IS ONE REASON I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A CRAFT UNION HERE TO REPRESENT MECHANICS.

Big deal. I walked away from the whole industry.

IF YOU ARE NOT IN OUR INDUSTRY WHY ARE YOU GIVING US ALL YOUR WISDOM HERE, SHOULDN'T YOUR WIFE BE DISCUSSING AA NOT YOU.

What the hell are you talking about? Delving into the fantastic and the absurd are we?

No one is taking anything. Again I walked away.

YOU TALK ABOUT WORKING O/T OR NOT AND YOU DON'T EVEN WORK HERE NOR ARE YOU A UNION MEMBER IN ANY WAY. I

I can promise you there is not a chance in hell of that happening. We are not going to chase AA.

WELL FOR YRS HERE AT AA TULSA RAN THE SHOW AND THE LINE STATIONS GOT SCREWED, SO YOUR FAMILY HAS MADE A GOOD WAGE AND YOU LIVE IN T-TOWN LUCKY YOU. CUTTING HEADS WILL GET THE 1000+ NEW GUYS IN TULSA WHICH WILL AFFECT YOUR TOWN'S ECONOMY
THEY WILL HAVE TO LEAVE. THOSE GUYS ARE JUST STARTING IN THEIR CAREER, MOST OF THE OLDER GUYS DON'T CARE ANYMORE AND JUST MARKING TIME.

Well you are just a champion of the people aren't you?

NO NOT A CHAMPION I BELIEVE IN DOING THE RIGHT THING AND BEING FAIR.. SORRY I DON'T HAVE THE IGM ATTITUDE LIKE MOST HERE AT AA. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THE OTHER WORK GROUPS OR WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM, I DO CARE ABOUT THE MEN/WOMEN THAT ARE IN MY CLASS AND CRAFT IF IT HELPS THE SENIOR GUYS FIND A WAY TO RETIRE AND HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR MEDICAL AND KEEPS THE JR GUYS WORKING THEN I AM FOR THAT.

AA is in a bad way financially. I rather them cut cost and her have a job to come back to when demand picks back up rather than the company maintain a high headcount of people they don't need and slowly bleed to death just to satisfy your agendas. I DON'T HAVE ANY AGENDA AND I HAVE SAID FULL PAY TILL THE LAST DAY, WHAT I AM SAYING IS THAT AA SHOULD PRODUCE A PACKAGE THAT WILL ALLOW THE SR. GUYS TO GO THUS KEEPING THE JR. GUYS. TAKING A LAYOFF AND THEN WAGE CONCESSIONS IS A TWU THING I NEVER SAID THAT AT ALL

Are you done making a fool of yourself or should we continue this circus?

ARE YOU DONE PUTTING YOUR 2 CENTS INTO A DISCUSSION THAT YOU HAVE NO PART OF? MAYBE YOU SHOULD GET A LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE AIRLINES THAT YOU WALKED AWAY FROM. SINCE YOU WIFE WORKS HERE MAYBE HAVE HER POST SINCE SHE HAS A STAKE IN HER CAREER.

He cant, he really has not walked very far away. Probably cant stand the fact that he has to walk away

I would not go that far but I certainly would not turn down OT just to speed up recall. Again American Airlines is having serious problems right now. I rather they cut cost and keep the company from going under than recall people they don't need just to serve an agenda.

I BET YOU WOULD CROSS A PICKET LINE TO SAVE AA, AND WHAT IF YOUR WIFE WAS SOMEONE THAT AA OR THE TWU SAID THEY DON'T NEED? WOULD YOU STILL FEEL THE SAME? AT SOME POINT THE EMPLOYEES NEED TO PULL UP THEIR BIG BOY PANTS AND MAKE A STAND. I KNOW WORKING IN T-TOWN FOR AA AND THE TWU YOU NEVER WERE TAUGHT THAT. EVERY COMPANY HAS IT'S OWN AGENDA WE WORK FOR AA IN NAME ONLY. WE (AA) WENT BK AND NOW WORK FOR THE MGMT TEAM OF AMERICA WEST WHICH RAN USAIR.

In case anyone thinks that taking payouts will save jobs you need to see what Carty and Little did in 2003. So let's put that to rest once and for all. It took several years to get back that 17% base paycut. The recalls came sooner but the pay cuts stayed.
