Yet, evey base except PIT voted to ratify ... go figure ....

Only 29% (if I remember correctly) of all F/A even bothered to vote in the most important vote in their so-called career.

And you wonder why it turned out the way it did?

Barely one-third even VOTED on last contract. YET EVERYONE COMPLAINS ABOUT HOW "they didn't vote for it" what they meant to say is that "they didn't even bother to VOTE". Think about it - those radical "rustheads" in PIT did. They were in saying with their vote (they were) Fed Up? They at least tried to make a difference.

The scare tactics used by the company ("we are going to liquidate") and the F/As that (were scared, and uninformed) were INVOLVED ACTUALLY VOTED. That is the reason we have this POS contract. And the same 29% will vote the exact same way UNLESS the other 71% F/As actually get involved in the process and VOTE. Who is not to say that if the JNC actually does come up with a contract to put out for a vote, the company won't pull the same BS as they did before? "You know that "oldie but a goodie": "If the F/As don't ratify this contract we will have choice left but shut the airline down." That one has always worked in a pinch.

This is one of the main reasons the pilots are in the pickle they are now. The group that was ACTIVE in their union 20% made some questionable decisions that now are going to affect the lives and careers of the other 80% of the membership. There is a very important lesson there.

IF your based in PHL ....
Ask JM why is the LEC is $35K in the red?
Must be some pretty expensive Coffee and Doughnuts in PHL.
IF your in PHL and DCA.....
Ask JM and AB why they supported the RSV side letter (that PHL and DCA could have passed on a roll call vote) - but let it appear like CLT, BOS, and LGA shot it down? Suck up to the junior reserves? It was garbage LOA to begin with and it needed to be shot down - but why would PHL and DCA try to look sympathetic to the RSVs for it not passing - when they COULD have passed it? Hrmm. Why would the union want to give relief to the company to cover up their blatant MISMANAGEMENT? Then still blame the Pilot's and the F/As for the meltdown over the holidays?
Ask the MEC: Why was LTO allowed to implemented when it was a "temporary fix" for PBS that never materialized - that was they way it was explained in the ROAD SHOWS? IS that why Teddy didn't want to put the contract out for a vote?

We on the East have seen what it is like to operate US Airways in the same fashion management operated America West for 4+ years, We have some major issues on the EAST thanks to double concessionary contracts (Seniority Based Reserve - Touching Weekends- PBS that doesn't violate senirity) and if that is what the WEST MEC is talking about "holding onto" and integrating into our JNC (this complete cluster we now call an airline?)....I am sorry but NO THANK YOU.

Time to start asking questions of your Union and your LEC people.
It's YOUR Union - you are paying for it.
CLT LEC elections are coming up.
Time to get involved.
And if you can't or don't want to get involved - at least VOTE.

Good Questions Glucose.

While Philly f/a's are at it call JM and ask why he will be bringing up the reserve issue (see side letter that was voted down) why is he bringing it up for another vote. Rumor has it he and AB will use their "roll call privileges" to force this vote to be a YES! If any f/a from Philly or DCA are against their president using their vote as a YES vote, you have to call and tell them you do not want your vote used as a YES vote. Your vote is NO. If you want this side letter passed, do nothing because they will be using your vote as a yes anyway. CLT & BOS voted no. LGA also voted no but is gone. So the majority of votes comes from the 2 that originally voted for it.
If you call and they say it's not true tell them for the record you don't want your vote used and then we'll see what happens in upcoming MEC meeting. PHL reminds me of our Democratic Senate- over spending and secretive.

It's YOUR Union - you are paying for it. Take the power BACK.

Very well said!!! I'm tired of listening to everyone complain how the company does this to us and that to us, when in fact, they are doing what the POS contract says. And this is the contract that "no one voted for". This time around, people better get involved and understand what is up for ratification....and VOTE for or against!!

e?
Actually, we are yinzers, hunkys or Stillers. But, we did overwhelmingly vote no on at least the three last contracts.

I could be wrong but what we have in marketing are 3rd year ASU students doing internships that have never had a real job much less worked the line and are so clueless as to the day to day ops except what they see on a piece of paper. They run around at HQ in jeans and shorts, think they are bright and cool when they are in fact wasting space.

Will someone for gods sake hire a few old farts that actually know what the hell they're doing?

Looks like Kirby is going to be in CLT on the 14th for the monthly propaganda CREW NEWS session,

If you could attend, what would you like to ask our esteemed management team?

And what topic would you insist on having an answer (for a change)?

Mine would be: "When exactly did management shift the primary focus of the airline from "SAFETY FIRST" to "ON TIME at any cost" ?

Unfortunately, I already know the answer and the reason $$$$$, just want to hear MANAGEMENT say it.

It's quiet here because people are 1. on vacation and 2. they are at the point of desperation where they don't give a damn anymore. You have f/a's that have gone from being really PO'd and mad as hell to beaten down, hopeless and just disgusted with the company AND the union at this point. The majority is just going through the motions and coasting along. I also believe we'll NEVER have the entire group motivated enough to vote and become active in the very union they complain about. I'm just so done with the group to be honest. Morons.....so many morons. They CHOOSE to be disconnected. The company is getting their wish if ya ask me.

I agree, Travel.
It's hard continuing to spend good energy chasing after bad. I for one am enjoying a drink and not stressing about this b.s. today. Quite frankly, if I were a smart girl, I would pursue other options. I'm just about over it. Sorry to say.

The sad part of all of this is that flight attendants will wine and complain about the contract and their unions, but they are also the same ones that do not take the time to become informed, vote nor get involved.

It is amazing then when election time comes up people come out and run for office, but then when they do not get elected they still do not volunteer their time.

Would y'all like a little "Cheese" with your "Whine" (not wine;-)

Most FAs don't even know about this website let alone sign up and complain........... What we need is for the folks that are up for election GET THEIR SORRY BUTTS OUT THERE, ADVERTISE THEMSELVES (ya know kinda like Obama did to get himself elected) MAKE THEIR VOICES KNOWN, and get votes!

Do any FAs even KNOW there's an election up? If not, who's fault is that? Ignorance is bliss! I've seen NOTHING in my AFA inbox

man it's quiet....everyone must be on VACATION

Oh that's right it's JAN.....everyone IS on vacation.

It's quiet here because a Facebook page called "US Airways Reserves & Concerned Blockholders" has sprung up in the last two weeks, and already has hundreds of members and constant activity on it's discussion board. All of the debate and discussion have moved there and it is as busy if not more than this place was in it's heyday. TravelPro, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the participation.

Hey thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of any such thing on Facebook. I've needed a break of sorts over this company and the soap opera we call a union. My dream would be for the f/a group to become empowered, take their union by storm and grow a set. I'll have to check this out and see what this grass roots movement is all about.
