Thank you for being honest.

No problem. I try to be honest, as it makes life easier, and far more enjoyable. I must note that you latched onto but one fragment there though. Would you care to address the AWA kids in grade school part as well please?

It never took more than to point out the fact that some AWA sorts, kids in grade school at the time my junior comrades started airline flying, would be "senior" to said comrades to produce instantly amazed responses. You can chalk such up to my narrative I suppose...but that's also the reality of "the actual award itself".

That DOH/LOS is a non-starter for pilots of two very different airlines that merge. The rest of the (airline industry) world subscribes to the truth that DOH/LOS is NOT an equitable way to merge pilot seniority lists, and that only (some) USAir East pilots think it is.

Whew!...Thanks for another all-knowing view about the entire body of airline pilots' thoughts everywhere...and you've managed to garner all this in so few years of personal experience at that

A neverending source of amusement.

Just curious: What is your great west "truth" that evidently the entire "rest of the world" duly subscribes to?
East,
The world is not flat. The earth orbits the sun and DOH is not a piece of merger criteria. DOH is not used by ALPA, the APA or any other union.

So let me get this straight-- you are saying that a person's high school graduation date is your justification for using a DOH approach? Class of '77 trumps '87. Is that the way it works?

Clearly not in your mind. I'm sure that the above mentioned class of 77 would welcome those ten years less in age to sit with them on the senior lawn. Any notions of "seniority" being basd upon real seniority = years worked/flying hours logged/etc seems anethmatic to the west mindset...as does the slightest bit of respect for said experience and invested years.

Hey, you did ask. (As if you didn't know... )

And BTW, I love your "neverending source of amusement" signature. It fits you perfectly.

Let the pathetic amusement continue!

Oh experienced one, when do you take your "experience" to the next level, like a mission to mars? NASA has been calling you, haven't they?

Sadly no..sigh...NASA tapped some 5 year old punk who was just about ready to solo his first paper airplane instead  They said somthing about some arbitrator's award.....

Hey,

What part of "don't make this personal" don't you guys get?

The sniping stops or the thread is closed and will not be replaced.

Talk about the subject at hand, NOT the posters.

...and only because they're a senior pilot group.

Anybody have the full resolution available; it doesn't seem complete.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THE AAA MEC REQUESTS THAT ALPA NATIONAL ESTABLISH A BLUE RIBBON PANEL COMPOSED OF EAST AND WEST PILOTS SELECTED BY EACH MEC, WITH A 30 DAY DURATION, TO JOINTLY NEGOTIATE A MUTUALLY ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION TO THE NICOLAU AWARD.

THEREFORE BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED THE RESULTS OF THE PANEL WILL BE PRESENTED TO EACH MEC FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL PRIOR TO SERVING AS A BASIS FOR ANY JNC NEGOTIATIONS.

Passed Unanimous

Let me translate:

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE AAA REPS WANT NATIONAL TO PUT THEM IN TRUSTEESHIP BECAUSE WE'VE PAINTED OURSELVES INTO A CORNER AND HAVE NO OTHER WAY OF SAVING OUR ASSES.

Interesting report concerning the Fri. / Sat. meeting.

BOS Pilots,

At our Friday, Oct. 12 meeting with John Prater and Paul Rice in Washington, DC, Prater warned us that, in his view, we were in violation of ALPA policies, directives, and commitments on several issues, including:

1. Refusing to engage in JNC negotiations in violation of ALPA's commitment in the Transition Agreement to do so, and

2. Refusing the directives from both him and the Executive Council to engage in these JNC discussions, and

3. Refusing to accept the Nicolau award in violation of the protocols of ALPA's Merger Policy, and

4. Failing in our responsibilities as ALPA Representatives to aggressively defend ALPA on this property against the USAPA "raid."

Accordingly, John Prater stated his intention of putting the entire MEC into "trusteeship," whereby all 12 members of your MEC would be replaced by pilots from other airlines, with these replacements having all the power and authority to make MEC decisions on your behalf.

Including, of course, negotiations for a single agreement and the implementation of the Nicolau award as automatic with the ratification of that agreement (on the East, the membership has already voted for the ALPA Constitutional option of membership ratification of any such agreement).

It goes without saying that our conversations with John Prater and Paul Rice was "intense" to say the least. We are hopeful that they now fully understand the negative consequences that would inevitably follow any such trusteeship, and continue to work with us in our attempt to find a solution to the unacceptability, to this Union, of the Nicolau award.

In Solidarity,

Let the campaign begin.
