AA and Labor Negotiations-2020

Will there be layoffs it’s hard to say, but yes at some point I think so. How deep is hard to say.
With these airplanes not flying it should give maintenance time to work on aircraft and get them in good shape once they are back going so I think for maintenance any layoffs will be at a minimum
Fleet is another story, I hope any fleet layoffs can be helped by some going to part time and I think these will also be no longer then 3 months at the outside hopefully shorter
We would all be fools to think there won’t be some, but hopefully it will be minimized and short lived

VOR; Something for all to think about when it comes to layoffs. If the T/A is NOT in place we at that point have (2) two separate unions with different ways in which they deal with layoffs. The IAM does it one way and here at the TWU we do it another. Recall rules and to what stations will be in play as well. The new mechanics that have hired on into Tulsa, and in the system came from what states? Do you think if they get cut they will stay in OK, or go home? Do you think they would come back, after they have seen how AA is as a work environment?

We all were told by the TWU yrs ago AA wanted to reduce its workforce to get in line with DL & UAL, the TWU said the number was 3k, what would be the seniority date if that happened? With a Layoff the workforce is still older, & at top pay scale with lots of vacation. How would that benefit AA? If they completely park aircraft they would need to be prepped for long down time, which is a big job, How will the pilots maintain their qualifications with aircraft parked?

With the T/A They would have to merge the seniority list figure out what stations would be reduced, how many would go, and how it would all be done. Do you actually think these two unions can do that in a time frame that really help AA? We all know that all they are interested in dues, if they don't make it right they also know that the AMFA Organizers are close with the required number of cards to file for a NMB Vote as well. If that happens they could completely loose all the dues from the M&R class and craft. AA & the association are now both between a rock and a hard place. The same place they would be in if Sito and Garcia agree to the T/A without the $6000.00 signing bonus and the Pay raise. How many of you will agree to sacrifice AGAIN when these two unions have failed each groups membership for yrs.

Something else for us all to ponder, we were told we would have a full version mailed to our homes how many of you have received a copy of the T/A?

Have you local station union reps even printed a copy and placed it in the break rooms and other work areas to insure everyone gets to look at it.

How many of you have printed it yourself and read what our scope language is what is different between the highlite sheet and the T/A itself?

The Association, the company is doing what companies do. The continual support of the Association by the membership has been the problem.
Not to change the subject, but when an aircraft is retired does MTC do any work on it, salvage parts etc or is that work done by a different company at the boneyard??

TBD or what?

ALUS, to answer your question that would depend on how the aircraft is removed from the fleet? Return to leasing company, sold, or just retired to boneyard.
The banks and lease company sometimes require that original engines and other parts be installed upon return.

I wouldn't be suprised if I woke up one morning and there was a shelter in place order closing the airports.Id rather get it out of the way now if its inevitable
Theres rumors of that flying at DCA. Gov Hogan of MD ordered only ticketed pax n essential peeps n everyone else off public transport. BWI Airport restaurants are closed from what i hear.

I believe that the hammer is going to drop as soon as the ink dries on the contract, and it's going to drop hard. There is no possible way for the airline to keep staffing at the current level with the cut flight schedule. The sad thing, is that many of the young bucks that I work with are clueless how dire the situation is. Most of them are hanging out, and having a good time as if nothing was wrong. I actually had one guy who said that since we were going to get the bailout, that everything was good now. These guys are standing in the middle of the road with a bus heading right for them, and don't even realize it.
DCA its similar but there are couple young ones who are scared.

The entire contract has been online for more than two weeks if someone has chosen not to get online for half hour and read then shame on them.
It’s available so what difference does it make if you have your own personal copy
Shees

VOR; You are correct but you must remember what airline you work for, the apathy that the membership has here you are right it will be shame on them.
But again shame on the Association for telling the membership one thing and doing another.
