On January 30, the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus outbreak a Global Public Health Emergency.
On January 31st Trump ordered travel restrictions and quarantines from China.
I really don’t think you can say that he had his head in the sand!

IMO the problem is government agencies, federal, state, municipal, etc. are just cubicles filled with people who have no idea how to do a job and just collect a paycheck.

In cities where flights from China arrive they were screaming about how to administer the restrictions/quarantines. Is that not what these agencies are for? No different than Katrina.

i don't like spreading rumors and usually dismiss most of what i hear. look around at the numbers and i wish i could dismiss what i heard.

there will be layoffs. i heard up to an apprx. seniority year. i don't want to spread that because that isn't for sure.

people are afraid. to alleviate the fear and panic, a treatment drug(s) need/s to be approved. the sooner the better.

until the panic and fear disappears...loosening of travel and gathering restrictions; how could one not think that layoffs won't happen?

the airlines aren't asking for money to pay everyone to come to work and watch tv.

I believe that the hammer is going to drop as soon as the ink dries on the contract, and it's going to drop hard. There is no possible way for the airline to keep staffing at the current level with the cut flight schedule. The sad thing, is that many of the young bucks that I work with are clueless how dire the situation is. Most of them are hanging out, and having a good time as if nothing was wrong. I actually had one guy who said that since we were going to get the bailout, that everything was good now. These guys are standing in the middle of the road with a bus heading right for them, and don't even realize it.

Politics? Burying his head in the sand is going to cause financial harm on many Americans, not just airline employees. Just go back and research. As far as info about the vote, yes there will still be a vote. Look for news out fairly soon. Don’t have all the answers yet.

The company never gave a last best offer...don’t know where you got that from. If they did, they wouldn’t have been negotiating until Jan 2020.
