AA and Labor Negotiations-2020

I think bankruptcy is a real possibility now, but it’s going to depend on how quickly travelers return. Fuel cost are lower than after 9/11
And there are not as many airlines flying today as back then
But yes this is now something that could happen

2003 & 2011 no one believed they would file bankruptcy, even after losing so much money

Today, this airline has made more money in the last 5 years then in their entire history before that and suddenly NOW they're going to file?

Not even a remote possibility.

Really glad association decided to not take vote causing lawsuit that delayed us a year then negotiate contracts for 5 different work groups with 2 different unions and still come up with a contract that still keeps us devided

oh I forgot Samuelson threatening the airline president causing us to be put on back burner for an additional 5 months.

our union sucks

I'll save this for that special crow eating event that will end up coming soon.

What I see that could happen once we pass the agreement if the airlines don’t see an improvement in bookings for summer and beyond then by fall pay cuts will be announced
They will come back to the union to for reductions or whatever they can try.
Let’s hope people stop loosing their minds and start to travel again

for laa, this is all too similar to 9-11. t/a agreed to just prior to 9-11, vote scheduled weeks later. the 'no' people (including myself) became 'yes' people.

the public was afraid to fly and then the anthrax scare (breathe it and die) sealed the deal for a few years until the tsa kinks and fear subsided. that took 2 years.

today, the public needs a treatment, an antiviral for this virus. it's right around the corner. once that fear is alleviated, we'll be back in business.

the volumes and loads are nowhere near the nothing that was going on for months after 9-11. took about 2 years for pax to trickle back.

if an antiviral is approved for use by april, hoping that domestic flying picks up by late may and intl. flying by mid summer.

Don’t look at the current loads it’s tge future bookings that have tanked.
Delta said in some cases it’s worse than after 9/11
Right now April bookings have more canceled bookings than bookings.
It will take a lot of improvement before anyone can feel better about the remainder part of the year

C'mon Bob, I never pictured you as the "Sky is falling" type. I have eaten a bit of crow lately (didn't think LUS would keep their medical) so I'm ready to serve a little bit. Keep this comment right next to NYer's as I don't think BK is even on the radar at this point. By the way, Texas BBQ'd crow isn't that bad...🙂

As long as the National Emergency stays in order anything can happen with labor contracts. If this virus peaks and new cases drops significantly then that is the turn around signal. Watch for the virus to peak and loads should pick up. Another indicator is how the market moves day to day. The Yo Yo effect means uncertainty on a daily basis.
The sky is only falling if you listen to mass media hysteria. Follow the real news. Plenty out there.
Remember these two things.
Virus peaks, market recovers and we are good to go. Those are the two things that started the Sky is falling panic. Recovery for AA may and probably will be slow but summer is coming and if all goes well in about two months things should improve significantly. Then again the one thing to look for is another world event. Hopefully we had enough for 2020.

Apparently you don’t watch much national media.
Don’t you realize while it’s true this could slow down in a few weeks the national media is not going to report good news or anything positive that our economy is recovering so as to keep harming Trump. They must keep up this narrative for as long as they can so everyone in the country knows this was all his fault and should not be re-elected.
Jobs be damned and our economy be damned because it’s all about the socialist agenda
yes listen to trump and all this was going to zero infected people in a short time sorry i will believe the experts and not the person who has been proven wrong at every point of time

To me it looks like full steam ahead for the vote and ratify... The shite will hit the fan after that... freakin craziness, these are strange times boys!! Strange....

the improvement you are talking about is an antiviral. it's right around the corner. even without a clear anti-viral, the new cases in all of china are down to single digits daily. the chinese were flying blind and used a hodgepodge of drugs to successfully treat many.

once an antiviral is cleared by the fda, the airline recovery will be much quicker and stronger than 2001-2003.

- bob was worried that our 2016 raises would drive the company to bk.

- you get a pass on lus insurance. the company stated that it would be gone in today's world of public negotiating. one could only make that assumption and work around that.

how about jet fuel under $1.00 a gallon. how's that for an improvement over last year.

obviously, we won't be flying the same amount of miles in 2020...but, it definitely helps.

And yet the association on the TWU side doesn't have a plan on locations for all of us to gather and vote. Hopefully when we get all together in a small room to vote nobody starts coughing and sneezing their butt off.

Does not matter what they gained over the last 5 years. What really matters is what they foresee and predict for the future and they will react for the future not the past.
Not saying AA will file but would not dismiss it if it gets worse at current rate now. Look how much $$$ they had the last time they filed and quickly still paid billions for exec. bonuses as well as purchased a butt load new aircraft and padded some very top exec's pockets.
I honestly hope you don't have to eat crow over this statement by you above, but Parker made a simular stupid statement as well that AA will NEVER lose money again.
