AA and Labor Negotiations-2020

And the media is promoting doom and gloom?
They are great at that, and the markets are going with them. I saw oil futures down 20% for Monday which is pretty bizarre. Might go under 30$ a barrel.

Id seen an online news article Saudi Arabia will further cut oil price but increased production. Wonder how it will help or hurt

You have to wonder if the TWU has any say at all in this Association. Do they even express an opinion on what may be best for their membership?
Alex Garcia would be the person to answer that question. Too bad he's in it for himself. He was appointed by the TWU International to represent Title 1 and title 2 on the TWU side. Membership didn't have a say so there goes your answer on what's best for the membership.

Some will probably love this!

Has anyone heard that the company is thinking of rescinding the contract offer?

Which is why they need to go.

He's delusional if he thinks voting in person for one day is the best way. It's the best way for the TWU to manipulate the voting process.
No oversight and no accountability if the TWU is acting like the judge, jury and prosecutor. It's like the fox is in charge of the hen house or the mouse watching the cheese.
They will probably allow sito to count the ballots.

Doesn't seem that way.

I think they did when the Local Presidents were actively engaged in negotiations. Everything seemed to turn the IAM way when the Executive Committee was created to "expedite" negotiations. At that point, the Presidents were excluded and in turn, the Members voices.

SWAMT; I think you are wasting your time here, the AA mechanics in my estimation don't really care. Instead of an overwhelming flood of AMFA cards signed it still has been a struggle at some stations to get them to understand the importance of getting rid of this association. The IGM that is in this industry is a problem I believe the mechanics here at AA both LUS and LAA are just so fed up with the process and disgusted with the past representation of the TWU & IAM nothing less than a complete reboot will help. The station union reps brag how they ran unopposed, thinking that they are doing a great job. They even say if we replace the association they will be back in office. 170 guys here in MIA either did not get a pin# to vote or did not vote and we all know it passed by only a slim margin last time. Even at SWA you did not have overwhelming numbers voting either. No matter what negatives that are in this upcoming contract the $$$$ is all they see. "YES" I get we all work here for the $.

The Association is expecting a low turnout that is just what the AA mechanics will give them. AA is a union shop but, NOT really a Union environment.
Looks as though we are just getting back what we all had yrs ago. Keeping up with the industry keeps AA in the game so they can hire replacements as men/women depart.

You are correct that the Unions are after one thing and that is DUES, it has always been that way here at AA.

Don't get me wrong about the number of cards already signed, but if the AA mechanics on both sides really wanted a change we would of already had the numbers to file. Some time soon our signed cards will be audited by AMFA National. Many have told the Organizers that they will sign cards when this T/A is signed in, The Title 2 guys system wide still don't get it. The disparity between the groups still remains. This is something I believe the Association wants just to keep the Mechanics group infighting.
Never a waste of time. I vowed to stay until you guys were successful with new representation by a C&C union (and not necessarily AMFA). Just wanna see you guys get out from under these industrial unions for a change. It will be 10 fold better for the mechanics and related, some just do not realize that yet.
AIM, I really hope you guys do pull it off after this contract goes thru. It would be disastrous at this point to vote no with all that is going on currently. I look forward to the announcement of sending the ballots to AMFA National for verification and then the announcement from AMFA on the filing with the NMB for a representational vote. AMFA surprised us all with the announcement for the Horizon vote and we are hearing that Spirit it gaining ground in their card drive for AMFA as well. It will a race between AA and Spirit to see who will be the next announcement (not really a race, just a FOS). Stay focused, stay strong. They will come around after the contract is done and everyone can move on. We did the exact same thing when we fired the teamsters after the new contract was passed.

Oh, no no. We’re voting on the 26th.
Voting on what exactly?
Something, anything, I don't care just give me something to vote on. The world is falling. We are going to lose massive amounts of money and revenue. Layoffs, cutbacks, grounding of fleets, closing of stations, cancellations new aircraft orders. If we have a contract signed we will be protected from all this doom and gloom, right?
Watch AA use the current events happening today and inflict them into our long term contractual agreement. Does the 1995 contract sound familiar? History always repeats itself. Over four years of negotiations and record profits and now just before finishing up and days from a vote the industry is being rocked hard.
