AA and Labor Negotiations-2020

SWAMT; I think you are wasting your time here, the AA mechanics in my estimation don't really care. Instead of an overwhelming flood of AMFA cards signed it still has been a struggle at some stations to get them to understand the importance of getting rid of this association. The IGM that is in this industry is a problem I believe the mechanics here at AA both LUS and LAA are just so fed up with the process and disgusted with the past representation of the TWU & IAM nothing less than a complete reboot will help. The station union reps brag how they ran unopposed, thinking that they are doing a great job. They even say if we replace the association they will be back in office. 170 guys here in MIA either did not get a pin# to vote or did not vote and we all know it passed by only a slim margin last time. Even at SWA you did not have overwhelming numbers voting either. No matter what negatives that are in this upcoming contract the $$$$ is all they see. "YES" I get we all work here for the $.

The Association is expecting a low turnout that is just what the AA mechanics will give them. AA is a union shop but, NOT really a Union environment.
Looks as though we are just getting back what we all had yrs ago. Keeping up with the industry keeps AA in the game so they can hire replacements as men/women depart.

You are correct that the Unions are after one thing and that is DUES, it has always been that way here at AA.

Don't get me wrong about the number of cards already signed, but if the AA mechanics on both sides really wanted a change we would of already had the numbers to file. Some time soon our signed cards will be audited by AMFA National. Many have told the Organizers that they will sign cards when this T/A is signed in, The Title 2 guys system wide still don't get it. The disparity between the groups still remains. This is something I believe the Association wants just to keep the Mechanics group infighting.
My understanding is that we (IAM) were going to be able to vote in the terminal AA conference room but the union said no.Now the voting will be in the back of bar in queens. My point not to convenient so the union must be hoping for a lie turn out ,I cant think of any other reason

Not sure where you see April bookings are good.
I’ve read they are way off. If there are some good bookings it’s mainly because we have dropped fares way low to put people in the seats.
That can’t continue for very long.
As long as the media keeps painting doom and gloom and telling people to stay off planes which I read today this is going to harm the bottom line big time.
I for one am ready for a vote to get this thing in place and hope AA doesn’t turn right around a start the lay-off process

And the media is promoting doom and gloom?

Being ready to vote on what?
You mentioned layoffs? The devil is in the language. I suggest everyone read the contract thoroughly which I know is asking too much. I came across an article about the airlines survival if this virus thing continues long term. It mentioned that if bookings stay down and airlines are forced to burn through their cash the airlines with the most cash on hand will survive the best. Guess which airline has the least cash on hand?
It's not Delta or United. AA management was criticized for the mishandling of its finances. High debt load and they do a buy back stock purchase. Now who was that person who said airlines will never lose money again?

Actually, it is Delta with the least cash on hand ($2.882B). United has the most, but they also have the biggest issues ($4.944B). Then you have AAL. ($3.984)

Jet fuel has taken a dip so that saving may offset a loss of revenue.

And you guys at the beloved IAM have put up with this BS for how long now?

For what, a sorry pension fund?

The IAM is hoping for a low TWU turnout to better enhance the chances of it passing, being they benefit more.

You can't have employees showing up to work on their days off accessing security areas. If your not scheduled to work then you can not use your ID to get in past security. Union business is not company business. These are federal security regulations and I'm sure each airport authority mirrors that same regulation. This will affect employees not on duty when the vote takes place. I hope the dysfunctional association thought of this little important detail. More voter suppression on the TWU side.

Karma is a biatch for AA...TWU/IAM/ASS CLOWNS...…..
And the association is still finalizing the AIP. I wonder what last minute changes were made since the virus has affected the operation? The virus is temporary and our contract is a virtual lifetime agreement.
And the majority will not read it.

Stop making sense!

You have to wonder if the TWU has any say at all in this Association. Do they even express an opinion on what may be best for their membership?
