2015 Fleet Service thread

Tim the association isn't a union at all. It's just that. An association of two unions that are both AFL/CIO members. Don't forget it was daddy Trumka who ordered the two to play nice with each other and share the same sandbox.

As far as comfort Tim that's not going to matter more than likely once there is a JCBA. Unless it has clear devestations in it, I suspect after people receive that first paycheck nothing else will matter and the association will have done its job.

So naive

According to the rules of the board I can't really say who he is but people have guessed well through his writing style.

But I will say yes he talks down to ALL the members who don't agree with him.

He's one of those "Never Wrong" guys. But the worst I've ever known in my life. Seriously.

I'm not one to quickly blame the association for the posture of the company in talks. To me it's more of the company's opinion of the importance of the below wing work group. They view us as replaceable and over paid. It's becoming evident the company is in no hurry to reach a JCBA with Fleet. An airline making record profits yet no change in posture from their bankruptcy talks. More concessionary proposals from the company for the Fleet Service. Disregard the lip service at town hall meetings from Parker. Their actions and proposals at the table speaks volumes. Not sure this posture would have been any different, regardless of who was representing us. I do expect the Association to dig in and prepare for a long negotiating process. In the meantime... what are we, as a membership, prepared to do about the company's opinion of us? That's the question.

So, the word of the day is "concessions", both from comments here and also noted on the Association update. I for one would like to know exactly what concessions AA has already demanded. There are rumors on the ramp in DFW what those givebacks are, but I would like someone who keeps using it to give the answer.

Well, maybe work a little more overtime!

Kind of like the kid being bullied on the playground. We, as a collective group, at UA, LUS and AA have a history of caving when it comes to portraying a united and ENGAGED front. Why should we expect a different posture from the company in JCBA talks? There is no stronger group then those who have the ability to solidify. Self help from this group is desperately needed. Until this happens the course seems to be set. So what you gonna do about it Fleet?

well if Concessions is the word going around  then I only have this to say..

the Concessions Stand Door is slammed shut   Screw mgmt   Its high flying time we get back every dam thing we lost in the mid 2000s    the record profits speak for itself    F..K to mgmt   and their lead negoiator Jerry F..k..g. Glass.

Unbelivable  if all this rumor is true.

Strong leadership provides strong membership! I was hired in the early 80's bro and we had leadership who would go to jail
for his membership. We had leadership who would not dare let a grievance go five freaking years before it was answered.
If you do not have leadership that is respected, then you are fighting a tough battle.

I agree. If they ask for anything back or look to outsource...I hope the Association looks at that as a non starter!

But didn't Parker say that we wouldn't have to give anything up? You do know if our negotiators make a stand against concessions it's going to take longer for us to get to the money. Aren't we losing every day the longer this takes?

There's Delta plus 3 just sitting out there waiting for us to snatch it. You don't think now that we should hurry?

W, I knew it was just a matter of time before you would come back and make it look like I flip flop...that's your shtick, MO.
Go back and read and get a grasp! The lack of meetings, the lack of preparation, the inability to mesh early on...that is what I have complained about. I have never said if concessions are thrown our way let's keep the process full speed ahead. Uniforms, bulletin boards, preambles, it's a little difficult to imagine them being concessionary.
To set the record straight W, I want negotiations at a quicker pace so I can reap what other work groups are enjoying. But if AA wants anything, and I mean anything back from us or wants to outsource one job after posting a $6.3 billion profit, I don't care if these negotiations drag out until I retire. Those are non starters IMO.
