The airbus has many more modes of flight than you are taught in school..
Or alternately; modes of "non-flight"... Guess what happens in the sim?

Take care.

Oh... I almost forgot... even with the resultant power reduction, the a/c could still be flown. However if you follow it up with TLA to zero degrees.... "Fait accompli!"

And now for something totally different....

Having just finished reading "Howard Hughes, His Life and Madness".....and how it compares to today,

C. Munn must be related to the Senator Ralph Owen Brewster character, with his misinformation and topic spins. (I mean, I could visualize Chip sitting there trying to grill Hughes during the hearings.....all the spin and BS, trying to promote Pan Am, who owned Brewster...while trying end to TWA)

I don't understand Chip's motives, but they sure parallel history..... Brewster cared nothing about flying, instead gaining power and the all mighty dollar, while Hughes totally believed in it. Hughes was totally in love with the aviation idea, which was the heartbeat of the progress of aviation.

I ask you, which is the better idea.....the politically driven, power and riches yielding route of Brewster (or any other greedy individual), or the promotion of great public transportation....a dream that is well within reach?

And when you read anything on these boards, WHO are you gonna believe, if you have flying in your blood? 🙂

I think Munn should hang up his wings and go to DC where he is more likely to fit in.

My whole point here is......we are pilots flying the most sophisticated aircraft in the world........this is NOT a political arena. If someone at this airline wants to be a politician, obviously, you're in the wrong line of work.

Of course, this necessitates a rebuttal as to whom exactly is the "complete joke" of the industry, with regards to both competence and integrity.
I recently hauled one of your check airmen in the flt deck from point a to b, (nice guy, by the way), and the conversation somehow came around to the infamous PHL "kangaroo ride". I simply could not understand how ANYONE could possibly "pull 'em back" at 50-90 ft, even with the numbers having not been input and the AT system screaming "Retard!" all the way down the rwy.
Apparently, he didn't mean to "pull 'em back", but guess what happens if you pull the "speed" knob at that point in time?
I see a trend here... Another painful example of not understanding the AT system.
Between that and the transport category conventional gear "club", you boys got going over there, the score resembles a football tally, and you boys have got a "two score shutout" going since the merger, and you think that we're the "joke" of the industry?
Your "integrity" score as a group mirrors your flying.
You disgust me. GBYS.
Sincerely yours...
That's not what I heard happened. Here's a crazy ides, let's wait for the NTSB report. Naw, that's no fun.

You disgust me as well. GFYS scab. (west pilot vernacular you can understand.)

East and West pilots share the same barbarians at the gate.  APA, the union representing American Airlines pilots, wanted USAPA, who represents all US Airways pilots, to relinquish their McCaskill-Bond protection.   This protection was authored by Senators from Missouri after their constituents, who were former TWA employees, were treated less than fairly by American Airlines Unions during the combination of the two airlines operations.

APA attempted to offer their version of the McCaskill- Bond act to USAPA (I will call it McCaskill-Bond lite), without the pesky legal oversight.

West pilots will post claims on this subject how they were not treated fairly by USAPA.

Fact;
American Airlines pilots placed TWA pilots on their list disregarding years of tenure.  The list that USAPA has and will present, recognizes the full tenure of America West pilots.

West pilots have their choice, USAPA or APA.  American pilots have their choice, work with USAPA or arbitration.  The company will enjoy the benefits of these disagreements, the ones that have most to lose as time passes by are the West pilots.

I happen to know that the company is well aware of the web boards postings and the "goings on" here.  It's not new news for sure but I was just reminded of it the other day while conversing with pilots in the crew room.

It's probably a good thing the west posters have taken a break.  Chip (mouthpiece) isn't helping the west cause, BTW.

Just keeping everyone in the loop.

I'm not afraid to post and I haven't even been on much anymore.  But it sounds like you've gone a little bezzerk on the boards here as of late, Tony.

I suggest you take some time off.

Just saying....it's your life.

Are you going to report yourself, Jamie?

I picture the chief pilot sitting there looking at the pile of web board, postings, ties and bag tag stickers you bring in and then letting out laugh after you leave.

Take some advice from your "Westicle" friend and grow a pair or get thicker skin. 😉

The former America West pilots have been sternly navigating their ship, focusing on the stern view and its bilge.  America West pilots do not need to bow, but navigate focusing on the bow view of open water.

You are correct. That is not all that happened. I just assumed that we all knew about the early rotation and the subsequent "rite of passage" that welcomed him into your little "club" that you guys have going over there. You are correct, max pitch was exceeded on the first "leg" of their little "excursion". (pun intended) You are also correct. "Naw, that's no fun." Take care, Pi. KTGSD!

You are residing and will remain on PHX Island because you are a hermit, not a castaway.
