Brothers and Sisters,

The System will be frozen effective Jan 16, 2012 for all movement and transfers in the system. I had a conversation with Managing Director of Ramp Administration Rob Korta on January 13th regarding a Reduction in Force (RIF). He assured me that ORD would NOT be included in the system wide RIF. However, ORD will be listed as a juniority station. As a result, it is possible that the Fleet Service Clerks recently hired or those that have lower tenured service could be affected. We are currently working on trying to lessen the impact of the RIF in our downlines. The Stand-in-Stead letter signed by VP Tedeschi is a form letter that is sent out to the entire system. I wanted to make sure that the Membership was clear on any confusion that might be misinterpreted from this form letter.

“To minimize the number of involuntary furloughs, the “Stand-in-Stead” (SIS) option will continue to be available for TWU-represented employees. As a reminder, to be offered a SIS, TWU-represented employees must be in the same classification and status as those positions deemed surplus. The deadline to place your name on the list to be considered for a SIS in time for the upcoming reduction is January 19, 2012. Employees can add/delete their name up until this “freeze” date. Once the freeze is effective, there can be no additions or deletions to the list.”

The number of Stand-in-Stead’s will be granted by seniority and may or may not be granted in each station based on operational needs of that particular city. If you have any questions, please call the Hall.

Anyone received WARN letters??

Watch for those WARN letters.
Each state has different laws for required timelines and specifics for WARN Notices.
In My case, United issued a 'blanket' WARN notice to "ALL employees".
If I were in ORD the 60 day notice would have put me on the street 14 days short of 55.
CommieFornia requires 60 days notice 'BY NAME' (which they didn't send) , hence I am now xUT... :p
Check your local laws and prepare!
Don't expect your Onion to help you either, I had to contact HR & Onion with a copy of the law before they agreed.
You all are going through difficult times and my heart is with you!
Best Wishes to you all!
Take Care,
B) xUT

I think this is what goes on in the minds of the vote NO coalition.

As usual, another absurd illustration of what transpired in May and August of 2010.

Why must the union negotiate a contract that has conditions equal to all classifications? Why can't a contract be negotiated for Mechanics, one for Fleet Service , Stores Facilities etc.....? REF: Bankruptcy

Are the mechanics going to be held to conditions imposed on Fleet Service? or the other way around?

Well if you were not so insulated in "T"town you would know from experience that the Mechanics are controlled and are in a ramper union. Just come to a class one station and see where you rate compared to rampers and you will find out they throw you under the bus on a daily basis.

You're lack of experiance outside of TUL really shines through.

That is excatly my point. So what should be done about it?

Thank You, I guess. Whatever that means. But you are correct, I have never left TUL. I am comfortable here and the only thing I am missing is my Base Pay.

Your statement could be stated in the reverse.

I agitated some of the line mechanics by added a signature to my post about OH saving line maintenance one aircraft at a time. The crying came very quickly. So I changed changed my signature: Line Maintenanance saving OH one airplane at a time and no one anywhere cried.

My experience at a Class I station is immaterial, it appears that a few of you lack the experience to do something about being ran by a Fleet Service Union.

Nothing can be done as long as "T " town is happy that is all that matters, You should come hang with me and go on daily calls that are coming from rampers looking for delays scratches dents other bogus calls and if you confront them you get to have the experience of having some huge thug yell at you spitting while yelling at you . It is glorious you need to see it for yourself to fully enjoy it. We are in a ramper union make no mistake about it. Think you are elite in T town u r not.

Elite, no but maybe I am just secluded from the Ramp. I have been attempting to obtain a mechanic union outside of an industrial union most of my career. I do know who runs the union and Local 514. So when you consider that T-Town is isolated, remember that those that are spitting on you are spitting from here too.

Are the Rampers performing your work?

Your crew chief sends you out due to a call from a Ramp worker???

Yes whenever rampers want a delay they find some scratch or dent or other bs on adl and call out the mechanics that is the way it is so it is our life, besides the daily fluid leaks which most of the time is de icing fluid which happens during cold months. All designed to give maintenance the delay so yes we go on 1/2 of our calls due to rampers.
