US/UA Official Merger Thread II

This is getting VERY CLOSE to a labor thread which will get you time off. Do not go there. This is about the possible merger only.
See Richards post at the top regarding pilot labor issues.

I agree also UAL will bring this place down if we merge, let them bleed quietly by themselves.

Exactly! If a company is about to go out of business just let them do so. One less carrier in the sky equals less competition which helps revenue too.

I don't get why hubs in SFO, DEN and PHX with an international gateway at LAX and even a focus city at SEA would be over hubbed in the west, but then I'm not from there.

I suppose I would not direct connectors travelling from Fresno to San Bernadino through LAX, so maybe pull some capacity down at LAX. But otherwise, why not operate 3 hubs in the west and O & D LAX?

As a reminder, ANY discussion of USAPA/ALPA and US Airways is off limits until next Thursday. We will allow the article to stand because technically it is the union's response to rumors of merger, but it stops there.

Hmmm...do you fly other airlines? Take a ZED trip on CO, UA, AA, or DL and let me know if you still feel the same ....

Over the past two years, I have flown every Legacy carrier except NW and I have flown them numurous times in years past. There is absolutely no difference in the service on the plane. You basically take your seat and the FA's come by with a complimentary drink and then you land. They are all the same. I can't comment on first class because I never upgrade. So maybe we are vastly inferior up front? Possibly, but we are making improvements there.

Since finances legitimately apply to a merger discussion, (that's my disclaimer so as not to break any board rules. ;) )

Looks like AMR is in the same boat.

article here:

AMR Wins Credit Waiver

I guess it's not just a "United" problem.

Try some international segments. There is definitely a difference. Even in coach.
