US-AA Merger Articles (Merged Topics)

I already answered this at the AA forums. NO, the unions aren't backing US, they're USing US! First, AA has to prove to the creditors, that they will receive their payments, and US outbidding it, won't matter. If US is still in the picture, then I am a fool, because I see bigger and more influential airlines stepping in to stop US from a takeover. You can 'believe' what you want, but this fool and tightwad who wouldn't wage a dollar, has a million that US/AA ain't happenin!

I agree with this notion. that's my take.

AA labor unions are smart, and they will use this leverage to their advantage to help them hold the line with their managment, to a large extent, while in BK. Using the threat of their going along with a merger/takeover by US Airways, gives them the only leverage they have to ward off an abrogation of their agreements.

Um .. Why don't you go back to the hole yu came from douchbag ?? Who the F cares what the Pittsburgh Building Trade Head sais or askes? They have nothing to do with either US or AA .

It has everything to do with airline BK history!!!!!! Specifically, US Airways history.

What is important from what the union leader is saying is his quote from the article:

"The labor leader asserted that the federal law gives American "the right to complete this (bankruptcy) process without any undue influence from outside groups." He cautioned that "any meddling will serve to undermine the process and jeopardize American's ability to do what it sees fit to return to profitability."

OMG ..really . Get over the whole PIT thing . It's gone ! It was not a money maker for US and that's why they bailed . If PIT was such an amazing hub then one one else would have taken US's place . It's a ghost town . Nobody wants it . Beautiful airport built in the wrong place. It's over . Done ! Please go away you miserable old lady !

AMR and American Airlines filed a lawsuit Friday asking that the U.S. Bankruptcy Court rule that the companies don’t have any obligation to keep providing health coverage and life insurance for retirees.

US Airways did the same thing when we were in BK. Retirees got screwed with medical, so did the active employees, 30% premium contribution by 2005, huge deductables, elimination of LTD.

Today's employees pay upward toward 40% of premiums on concessionary wages.

Airways employees who had their retirement in company stock lost it all when the judge signed the bankruptcy papers. I remember two employees who said they lost 75K and another 125K.

Raping of the middle class continues? How do you think they afford 4 homes and a 110 foot yacht? They have to get the money somewhere. :D
