US-AA Merger Articles (Merged Topics)

So what exactly happens if he fails like his previous attempted mergers? Just asking.

nothing really US will keep on though maybe the wifi on the the lav truck or whatever it is you're driving will quit and you'll just go away

If I didn't work for either company I wouldn't care less what they did, you have shown you have some sort of hidden agenda when it comes to US. I don't really care what or why that agenda is but it pretty much renders your opinions useless

US Air plans antitrust filing to boost AMR bid

By Soyoung Kim and Nick Brown

NEW YORK (Reuters) - US Airways Group (LCC) aims to file paperwork with U.S. antitrust regulators as early as July for a proposed merger with AMR Corp (AAMRQ.PK), the bankrupt parent of American Airlines, according to people familiar with the matter.
US Airways believes securing regulatory approval for its proposed deal would remove one key element of uncertainty from the picture, bolstering its case as AMR's creditors compare the merits of a merger with the carrier's standalone restructuring plan, the people said.
US Airways first confirmed its interest in merging with AMR in January.
A regulatory filing in the near future - as opposed to after reaching a deal - also reflects the fifth-largest U.S. carrier's desire to merge with AMR while the No. 3 U.S. airline is still in bankruptcy.

Actually, I just like betting on a sure thing. I'll dump that lav truck at your front door. And how many naysayers have a hidden agenda? I'm at the end of that line that reaches India!

TWU Statement: June 12, 2012

The second scheduled day of mediated negotiations with M&R and Stores took place today in New York. These talks are being held under the guidance of a federal judge who has ordered that session proceedings be confidential.

The TWU had two days scheduled for mediation this week. Starting tomorrow the pilots go into mediation with the judge. As information becomes available we will update you.

American Statement: June 12, 2012

American Airlines met with the Transport Workers Union in mediated sessions for two days this week to discuss the Mechanics & Related and Stores contracts. We will resume mediated discussions with the APA tomorrow. Our goal is still to reach consensual deals with all of our unions. As demonstrated by the ratified agreements we’ve reached with the TWU for five of its workgroups, we’re committed to finding creative, cooperative ways to achieve consensual agreements that allow American to emerge from restructuring as a profitable and successful company.”

If you mean, can US still pull off a merger/purchase/whatever without the ok of the AMR BOD, as I understand it, YES THEY CAN DO THAT (as the TWU boys like to say). As near as I can tell, once a company enters bk, the management and the BOD lose a certain amount of control over the company's future (no wonder our Theory X management resisted bk for so long ). If the creditor's committee decides that a merger with LCC is the best deal for the creditors, I don't think the judge has a lot of say in approving/disapproving the merger offer. His job is to save the company (if possible) and provide the best solution for the creditors. A merger would obviously "save" the company for the time being, and if the creditors say so, provide the best solution for them.
