What's new

TWU negotiations.........what?

OK, "junkie", I heard what you said.

BUT, You still have'nt directed your OBVIOUS anger, to the proper "area", meaning that(AND I WOULD GAMBLE MY LIFE SAVINGS ON THE FOLLOWING😉 that the MAJORITY of your native born brothers/sisters-FROM THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS, are KOOL AID drinking...."YES" voters for the TWU !!

Bears, your constant insults about Texas and Oklahoma are growing a bit moldy. It's like assuming everyone from Massachussets is a supporter of gay marriage.

Most of the AMT's I knew from AFW and DFW were solid AMFA supporters.

Just remember - the guy is retired, and obviously without anything to do but stir hate and discontent on a blog.

I'm from MA. and I have to say just about anyone I ever met from DFW or TULE were good natured and polite to a fault. Places like that are called company towns for a reason, it's nice to sound like a hero. But the man knows he's the only paycheck in town.

AA is hardly the only paycheck in town in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

😛h34r: Are we supposed to quit every job we get when things go bad, or isn't it ok to talk about how to improve it? When talking about improving, you are going to here some complaining, simply because if something needs improved their are negative factors.

 Handle it or go away.

Did I say anything about quiting a job when the going gets tough? No I did not. All I did was point out the FACT that in the Dallas/Ft Worth area AA is hardly the only game in town. Very unlike what someone else tried to imply about the area.

It seems that you read into what I said and came to your own conclusions. Next time think before you type.

OK Eric,........you're right about AFW(Texas), and I'll take your word for it ABOUT THE AMT's-ONLY, with regard to DFW.

....B U T ....., my COLD HARD FACTS, remain just that, COLD HARD FACTS.

The FSC's in DFW/Texas.........and the AMT's in TUL/Oklahoma..............are "KOOL AID" drinking..Company A$$ KISSING.."YES" voters !!!!!

"..??????????????????????????????.."

NH/BB's

I was thinking more of AFW, I meant no insult. I have worked at a hub as well as a small station. It is kind of like GM or Ford shutting a plant. Life goes on but the trauma is greater when the area was built around the job.

I have worked in Tulsa for all ratification votes but one in a 20+ year period. Not once have I ever voted yes on a TWU negotiated agreement!

It is easy to blame the TUL Roll-Call Vote, or the ratification voting in Tulsa as the problem. But if the TWU Local Leadership is propagating Company Unionism, and Corporate Fear Mongering, that is where the source of the problem lies. The Union Members are simply following or fearing the direction of the fear mongering leadership.

Pigeon Holeing all TUL AMT's as Kool-Aid drinkers does nothing to correct the problem.

Currently, the TUL Workforce appears closer to having enough than ever before in my 20+ years of employment. Soon we will see if that translates into a different path.

Tulsa will be fed fear and worst case scenarios during negotiations. Without any outside intervention the TWU has a captive audience and little chance of rebellion against them. The best message that can be sent to all parties involved is vote out all the incumbents of Local 514 and introduce new bylaws that will embrace accountability, informed members, and let the members have more say on how the local operates. Democracy.......what's that?

If the International Officers are just going to be spokesmen for the company why do we have an International?

Do we have a say in the Interntaional salaries and benefits?

If our Local presidents do not have ownership of the contract why do we participate in negotiations?

why is it that the APA, APFA, and TWU local 100 can vote their officers who own their contract out but the Airline Division of the TWU can't?

Why don't we have direct elections from the membership for International officers?

The Airline Division is being sold short on their choices and direct influence on representation of the members.

The same comments, minus the internet by a bunch of AA mechanics in 1962 when they started the AMFA. Some things never change unless of course... 😉

I believe thats only the case for AMR/TWU, which makes up more of the ATD than any other employer. At SWA they dont have the same structure that we do and those under Local 504, in the ATD even though hardly any of its 5000 members are airline workers, have a different structure also.

All said and done, the SWA workers have the most control over their contract, I imagine that AMR approves of this, because even though they (SWA Workers) are TWU, their democratic structure as opposed to the autocratic -top down structure at AMR- means that SWA has to deal with a union, and that very same union happens to be in AMRs pocket. AMR gets to influence labor issues at SWA because they own the TWU, the union that represents SWA flight attendants and ramp workers.
