TWU negotiations.........what?

Is there any word on the TWU mech and related strategy session yet? Who was voted to co-chair the committee? I hope the intl was not able to get a "yes man" in that position.

FWAA;

"Timco probably doesn't spend as much as AA for management"

So what you are saying is that AA needs to trim management costs to be more competitive. We are overmanaged.

Nice stretch there, Chuck.

What's the average length of service and experience for a tech and a supervisor/manager at Timco vs. AA? What's the ratio of supervisors to techs? You say AA is overmanaged, so what's the variance?

I'm sure Timco is stretched thinner than AA, but I think FWAAA is right on the money -- managers at AA all started at probably 15% above whatever they were making as an AMT (probably top of the scale), and that's going to compounded somewhat over an average seniority of 15-20 years.

The guys at Timco are probably starting out at a similar percentage above their "only a scab would work at that rate" wages, and I'd guess don't have nearly the same length of service.

Logic would dictate that they're paying their managers less. And they're probably getting lower quality people and leadership out of it.

Seriously, you guys make it sound like the worst place to work, so I can only imagine the quality of the guys willing to work there in management. No doubt they're just biding time until they can get a night manager's job at the Dairy Queen or Waffle House....

On the same line of reasoning, let's not forget that every manager at AA used to turn a wrench, and most came from the floor. If they're such idiots, what does that imply about the quality of AA's line and overhaul mechanics?...

The TWU Maintenance and Related Negotiating committee reconvened in Hurst, Texas September 14 – September 15, 2010. Since the committee last met recent elections at Local 514 resulted in changes to the makeup of the committee. In Local 514 (TUL), Sam Cirri (President), John Hewitt (Title I) and John Carlisle (Title II) were voted in as M&R Committee members. Additionally, Local 564 Title II representative Ed Domenech was also welcomed.

The full M&R committee met with TWU International President Jim Little, along with TWU ATD Director Garry Drummond to reassess our position since the overwhelming rejection of the tentative agreement to discuss internally where we go from here.

The committee would like to thank Gordon Clark and Ron Harp for their contributions to the committee. Due to the MCI base closing this will be their last time with the committee, we wish them well in the future endeavors.

The committee will reconvene the week of October 11-15th to continue their strategic planning sessions.

The M&R Negotiating Committee recognizes these are difficult times and appreciates your patience and support as we work toward an agreement

What the hell ? It is bad enough that AA plays the stall game without our own negotiating committee loafing! I think the membership spoke loud and clear. Get your arses back to Hurst and get your plan together and LET'S GO.

Reconvene a month later??!.... what's to stop them from getting back together in a day or two?
IMy God, it's no wonder it takes FOREVER and a day to get a contract done with this bunch.
And of course, AMR is perfectly willing to go right along.
Every month stalled, is another month of saving money for the pilots and skywaitresses...
What a joke.

exactly whats taking so long get your asses back to the table when do you plan to contact the NMB

if they had any plans to really get things done it wouldn't take one two day meeting every month to do something meet for a month straight hammmer it out get it done but no instead we will pussy foot around

hey but don't worry in chicago when I asked about the survey my VP told me they are not taking one he did tell me that Gilboy KNOWS what I want. (plus it would be to expensive , but they wasted money stuffing the the ballots)

emergency meeting no need the exec board and gilboy say we don't need anymore info they know what we want (i.e they don't even care what we think , oh i'm sorry we are not allowed to think)

don't worry at local monthly meeting today 7 guys showed up one forced to because he was car pooling with someone (poor bastard) and most where stewards ( no the 7 didn't include the exec. board forced to be there)

now just go back to your hole and coward down like a good member

I get the feeling, we are back to the TWU of old, we know what is good for you no shut up and sit down. I got the response from local 563 VP to send an email to Gilboy.

Gordon Clark is no longer in negotiations? Good! That's one less YES vote to worry about.

In solidarity? Not if it means solidarity for people who can not stand up for what they believe in.

GO AMP!

when you guys take a vote at the negotiations, instead of taking a vote by raising your hands. Why don't you all put your vote down on paper with your name. This way the whole negotiations committee is held responsible, for what is passed and brought back.

The reseason I bring this up I'm hearing alot of guys don't want to be responsible for what is being brought back to the membership, so when a vote is being taken by raising your hands, guys look around the table to see how others are voting and if they see its passing willn't rasise there hands as not to be accountable

so down the road you can say I didn't/did vote for that

P.S. and stop playing games on your iphones and etc... get the job done
